The Asians were used but the man who has been using them has been trying to do away with it since the 70's........saw it as a leg up for black people and been trying to destroy it since. 1st used a white woman then turned to Asians. That man Edward Blum is die hard far right conservative racist who has always felt that black people were purely here to serve not to lead or gain anything. Once you analyze his moves in depths you'll see it very clearly. There is a reason why he has been losing.......until now.


On the flip side there are many ways now for us to gain a leg up. Trades or Stem or various other jobs that don't require it. He may be late with this but yeah he's been trying to kill it almost since it's inception. You may want to look beneath the surface before you take up for him and his intentions

This whole thing is meant to squeeze out the very few slots Black folks can get into and completely turn the STEM game over to Asians...who willl then go on to become managers and CEOs at FANG and MS and hire their buddies/countrymen and less Black faces are getting a slice of the pie.

In a Capitalist society this shyt is a zero sum game...them gaining means we are losing. Might not have huge effects on the "black middle class (an oxymoron to say the least)" but it does mean life gets harder for the few who can compete at that level and becomes exponentially harder for those who come after.

Life success is all about if those before you blazed a path and we will never see a generation of STEM professionals if the path to success becomes more and more encumbered.

And btw this idea of HBCU becoming empowered is a pipe dream as the path to a high STEM career goes through elite schools....yall arent realizing that theres levels to this...its like you gotta go to a blue blood to get drafted....you aint coming into a 200-300k senior software dev positions at google without your degree bein from CAL, Stanford, MIT, UCLA, John Hopkins, Michigan, etc

We need worker unions at these skilled STEM professions.

You had some interest comments in a thread about the ethnic makeup of medical schools in a thread a while back.

Mostly indifference, no one wants black people at the top so these types of lawsuits will keep coming. Most of the top universities and graduate programs were already altering their admissions to remove overt dependence on numbers and a quota system. Many top universities made SAT and ACT optional, they also spend more time reviewing applications to see if someone is socioeconomically disadvantaged or from an underserved community.

Most students aren't going to the top universities so we can look at what happened in California, Asians benefitted the most, and there was a drop in black enrollment. This is just another example of America not giving a fukk about black people.

We have other issues that's bigger than college. We can't even get passed Highschool, let alone college. If we do make it to college a lot of us are getting terrible degrees which mean low paid jobs.

HBCUs don't prepare you for the real world though do they? You'll be surrounded by whites, Indians, and Asians once you graduate.

I have a PhD from a state school. I really think getting only a bachelors degree from the likes of Harvard, Yale, etc would be more valuable. Like if I was the exact same person, but one version got the PhD from a state school and the other version just got a bachelors degree from Yale, that Yale version would be given more opportunities and would make more money.

Those Ivy schools are a cheat code. You just have to get in. They’ve done studies and classes at Harvard/Yale are no more difficult than classes at state schools. The value comes with the name recognition
