HOWEVER...if Local schools churn out local talent, they will compete...just like they do in Texas, ATL, CLT, and even Chicago.

Look at corporate statements they use to justify relocations. They always cite how many high quality candidates local schools churn out.

To say locals won't benefit is a lie.

So you admit that they have no interest in looking for local talent, yet you refuse to accept that this HQ would displace hardworking NYers from their neighborhoods and homes in favor of gentrification and "development".

Amazon is moving to Crystal City because they are the sole bidder for a AWS contract with the DOD worth several billions.

All their work will be Fed govt related like almost every other contractor in the DMV.

Look this is a huge L for NYC

Federal government is the industry in the DMV. For example, I work for a private company and all our work is with the Federal government. Unemployment in D.C proper is very high because lack of skills and competition with transplants. Not sure how Amazon HQ2 is going to alleviate that problem.

breh, they will hire from NYU and Columbia, and a few types of roles may be sourced from SUNY schools, otherwise they'll take the best talent and if that talent is coming from other geos, that's who gets the job. yall can keep arguing hypotheticals when i live, work, and do hiring in the epicenter of this industry. amazon in NY is a global attraction, it's not the same as a small amazon outpost in the south that would be a regional attraction and thus more local/regional candidates fill the roles

take a quick look at LinkedIn and see all the places people came from prior to working in Facebook Austin - it's aint all UT/Texas Tech grads and Austin/Dallas/Houston natives
