This is wrong.

High value candidates will chase high value jobs anywhere. You're not obligated to hire locally.

HOWEVER...if Local schools churn out local talent, they will compete...just like they do in Texas, ATL, CLT, and even Chicago.

Look at corporate statements they use to justify relocations. They always cite how many high quality candidates local schools churn out.

To say locals won't benefit is a lie.
So you admit that they have no interest in looking for local talent, yet you refuse to accept that this HQ would displace hardworking NYers from their neighborhoods and homes in favor of gentrification and "development".

They just want talent.

You can't just hire some dude off the street cause he lives down the block if he doesn't have the prerequisite tools and skills.

Do you dudes think this is some 1950s factory job bullshyt? :mindblown:

What the fukk are you saying right now?

So to all the people who support this getting axed what is the benefit again in that?

Will the land turn into Narnia?

Re: Gentrifciation whenever I'm up there it's Lamborghinis, McLarens, GT3RS, Turbo S, Bentleys and shyt

I want to know.
i don't know what people out here really want...

Amazon should have been forced to capitulate more to the city, but just saying you don't want those jobs? Thats stupidity.

There are TONS of local NYers working and living in NYC right now who went to SUNY schools and other schools and they have the prerequisite tools and skills.

Yo just admit you don't know shyt about this city or the people that live here, and that you're all about big business at any cost

I'd at least respect the honesty of it

In Manhattan? In the nicer parts of Queens and BK?

Who is driving Lambos in SS Jamaica, Queens? Gawdfather Fif and associates?

Who are these Bentley pushers in East Flatbush? Are there some GS9 affiliates that weren't nabbed and are eating off 6 Figures and Certs?

What? I'm talking about Long Island City where they were going to build Amazon HQ2. The area that is at peril of being gentrified that everyone is pearl clutching about. You know that area of Queens that is more white than Park Slope. You known near the Sweet Chick that Nas owns?

Scott Galloway called DMV/NYC as HQ2 locations.

Look this is a huge L for NYC
he called those places because they were the most obvious locations considering what amazon is about, he never saw it as a win. the fact that those two locations whored themselves out unnecessarily was on them. at least NYC got out of it. and here is a Galloway tweet from a few hours ago since you're interested in what he has to say.

BECAUSE THOSE TECH FIRMS ARE NOT HIRING THEM

This is why people didn't want Amazon here...because it would be more of the same, except with now even MORE gentrification and colonizers!

breh, they will hire from NYU and Columbia, and a few types of roles may be sourced from SUNY schools, otherwise they'll take the best talent and if that talent is coming from other geos, that's who gets the job. yall can keep arguing hypotheticals when i live, work, and do hiring in the epicenter of this industry. amazon in NY is a global attraction, it's not the same as a small amazon outpost in the south that would be a regional attraction and thus more local/regional candidates fill the roles

take a quick look at LinkedIn and see all the places people came from prior to working in Facebook Austin - it's aint all UT/Texas Tech grads and Austin/Dallas/Houston natives

so where should they hire from?

elites always do elite things.

Even in the south, theres target schools that get a lot of benefit for hires.

If you have skills you don't have those problems.

Hell, the finance and law industry is proof of this. NYC finance and law jobs LOVE hiring locally...ESPECIALLY in NYC...arguably more than a lot of other cities!
