they can. a teacher is supposed to teach students that there are multiple ways to skin a cat, and use whichever way works best for you
Yea They're suppose to but some dont. Some teachers say you have to follow the way that they teach it and show the work in the way they teach only. They'll take off points for a correct answer with a different formula. Its idiotic.

fam, this is one of the stupidest things I've read on here.

You'll be doing AT LEAST 3 calculus classes
You think that validates his claim the he did "extensive study in differential equations and other higher mathematical applications". It's a fukking bachelors degree. The shyt is basically worthless for a reason.

moreover, if you really believe he's some math wizard then what's your rationale for him not being about to complete this ridiculously easy math problem?

You dudes are a trip.

What are you talking about????

First of all, this guy may have done a lot of math. OK. And?

But if he can't solve that math problem its not an indictment on his ability to do math, but his ability to view the same problem with a different set of eyes.

The problem here is that people are assuming that the WAY they learned is the only way to achieve the same answer

math is about problem solving.

Its more than numbers. Its about rationale. This father hasn't done those sorts of problems since he was a kid so of course he's not used to thinking that way.
Fine, but that's more of an indictment of the traditional way of teaching math.

if he indeed does have an electrical engineering degree, he probably is a math wizard vs 98% of most people

so you saying a bachelors degree in electrical engineering is worthless?

:what: That's my fukking point. did you even read the back and forth before negging me? Even the post you replied to and then negged is me agreeing that a BS in that field would require extensive study in mathematics. Dumb fukk get your reading comprehension skills up before negging someone you agree with.:snoop:

That's not the point at all. The point is he feels along with many other people that it's ridiculous to teach kids equations like that before teaching them the fundamentals first.

Then he'd be able to figure out this simple problem, and not throw a temper tantrum over it.
