I'm still calling on the theft excuse tho. that shyt might play in 2020 after the george floyd riots, but why double down and rebuild the entire store, and then build out a separate walmart academy and a walmart health clinic as well on the same property, only to abandon everything a couple years later???

this is possible here. for many years, we only had ONE walmart located in the entire city limits.

it could have been over saturation regarding the one by me, cuz there's another one 10 minutes away, also on the south side, and yet another one 10 minutes away, that's just outside the city.

the one they closed near obama crib, in more shocking because it's a legit food desert where they closed that walmart. and that one wasn't even a full store. it was a neighborhood walmart, that essentially only sold food. it's also within 5 minutes of the university of chicago and a few affluent neighborhoods in hyde park and kenwood.

No they just want to open up businesses in white neighborhoods that wont patron their stores and would go bankrupt so they make those black people come to them in white areas under the guise of "support black owned businesses".

If youre not serving the black community then you really aren't a black business even if you are one. You just use that as a dog whistle for black people to keep you in business cause the white folks wont.

It’s a lie that white people don’t patronize our small businesses. We don’t have to put “black owned business” in the window. And I personally know a breh I went to high school with whose family has a Caribbean food spot, and white people come to the hood to get food.

And from a pragmatic perspective, you want to open a business where people can afford to shop, and are less likely to steal.

They can't. Black managers with black employees. Can't put the blame anywhere else. Not even corporate. Corporate job is the keep the shelves full.. After that it's all on the store management.

my homie, who lives in a predominantly white suburb, they just closed one of the walmarts in his town a couple months ago. and they also lost their target a couple years ago. how do u explain that? I certainly can't blame it on the neighborhood demographics being the determining factor.

More than likely they weren’t turning high enough profit margins if any.

Walmart is one of the few brick and mortar places left that isn’t hurting financially.

Most of those places are bleeding dry and going the way of Bed, Bath, & Beyond, K-Mart, Sears, Montgomery Ward, and other brick and mortar department stores and filing bankruptcy or downsizing if not completely going out of business all together.

Everybody wants to grab that shyt online now as opposed to going in a store. The internet and people wanting everything to just be convenient changed the game. A lot of these places didn’t adapt still trying to run that same playbook from the 80s and 90s with a changing consumer base.
