Just wondering, not being critical, but is this something you do by design.....or is it because you had so much shyt to do? I don't understand people who don't socialize at work.

I'm not a social person at all. I dont want to go to any work events unless they passing out bonuses, I dont want new work friends. I only socialize with others when Im trying to get a promotion in a dept where they dont know me. Im a top performer in my dept but I feel like when you are a social butterfly at work, you get called on for extra projects. I got a friend of mines a job where I work, she's overly social and now she's in meetings all day because our boss always recommends her for projects. She hates it because while I'm at home actually working about 3-4 out of the 7.5 hrs of our work day, she's in meeting during her down time. Dont sign me up for shyt extra if I'm not getting paid extra for it. They good for piling extra work on you but not paying you for it. She created an excel worksheet that does calculations in half the time it was taking previously. They asked her to redo some of the other standard forms we use, a 2 month project in addition to her daily work and all she got was a shout out at our monthly department meeting.

Sometimes I lie and say I'm having issues with my webcam :pachaha:

Well when we have our 10-15 group meeting it's a bit hard.
When we have our weekly Thursday meeting for our Division, which they have on the ZOOM AUTO Camera Turn on (I fukking hate that), I immediately check the fukk out because there are like 6 pages of webcams.

So I am just, :sadcam:"Please don't fukking call my name."

That and, "Sorry, I was on mute." :troll:

A black man in a mostly white corporation. The culture is very corny. They typically always come at you so you can be their one "black friend" because the majority don't engage with black people outside of work. I think only the Oreo cookie tap dancers like that type of environment. :scust: If I worked in DC, I'd be more social at work because there is more black people in alot of places there.

Besides that, the work place is very phony. I think people engage too much on a personal level. I don't know these people. The overwhelming majority I don't want to know at all. These are people I wouldn't even strike up a convo outside of work, so no need to at work. Plus it cuts down on gossip and issues when you are strictly about work. I've seen so many people put all their business out at work and were surprised when people were talking about them and judging them. :dwillhuh:

I come to work to work. Not socialize. This is why I'm so glad I'm out of accounting. So many accounts are screwed up because people talk too dam much.

Yea I can definitely see those view points!

I've always worked in offices tied to factories so its always been diverse AF, and mostly enjoyable. But I could get my work done much faster at home.

Conversely my girls has had kind of a hard time adapting.

Ok so I worked five years part time at IKEA. Obviously I must of enjoyed it too stay that long part time lol. They love diversity. I actually made friends there because of that. Also the culture isn't corny corporate. You get the real person at jobs like that vs phony corporate people

I have been since mid March. It's too easy...I'm sitting here playing video games instead of working.

Initially I thought I wouldn't like it since I have a small apartment. I don't have a second room or an office or anything.

But I get most of my work done in the first couple of hours and just cruise through the rest of the day.

The thing about corporate is when they find that sucker, they dog the shyt out of them. I bet she never speaks up or asks for a raise. :gucci:

The corporate world has the "Do more with less" attitude. Most people be scared for their jobs so they fall in line. I've quit jobs that tried that shyt with me. You not going to pile all this work on me and not pay me shyt. :camby:

Bumping this since some of us are remote and getting the vaccine

Is everyone staying home? I am thinking of traveling to the west coast and getting an Airbnb for a month or something
