Of course, the casual listener not gonna listen to some crazy off the wall stuff until it gets poppy and commercialized, but Rap been at the forefront of all the pop trends of the last decade.

Most of the stuff Indie and Electro been doing the last 10 years is rehash of earlier stuff. Funny cause EDM is just a heavy bite on Southern Trap, 90 RnB, and House. All Black created music but they so "experimental" huh?

Seriously name some experimental Indie or Electro? Bet most of it has been done or is a mash up of different styles of stuff but nothing new.

Nah. Joey Bada$$, Wale, J.Cole, Big KRIT, and Kendrick(less than a year ago) all dropped very good to great projects. They're some of my favorite rapper, so I can't say I'm not loving hip hop right now. It's much better now than it was in the early to mid 2000s.

I mean last year I thought hip hop was in an exciting place, but by now we've had a streak of like 10+ mediocre albums in a row. The excitement is gone :manny:

Hundreds of albums and mixtapes have been released since last year. A lot of good ones and bad ones but lots to choose from, way more than 10

Flylo and CC? This ain't 2008 plus Aphex and Dilla did everything all these beatmaker derivatives wish they had the talent to do.

Indie? If you like listening to college educated, rich white people sing from the perspective of existential whatever the fukk convoluted concept that cacs come up with cause they can't pull inspiration from their boring ass lives then so be it. All that hipster shyt existed decades before in better form.

WTF?

Future is safe? Young Thug is safe? Kevin Gates? Z Money? Yeezus? Danny Brown? Death Grips? B L A C K I E? Nicki? shyt even Keef is being friend weirdo right now. Doesn't mean its good but definitely pushing boundaries.

What has Future done to spice up his music?
I used to bump Young Thug and will admit he has some catchy ish but it can get stale
Kevin Gates is the game on autotune
Danny Brown is eh
Death Grips is dope but isnt well recieved with the hip hop community
Nicky and Keef breh? :wtf:

I think this current crop of rappers are far more talented overall than those from the "In My white Tee", "This is why I'm Hot", "Oh I Think They Like Me" era. Everyone is hungry and truly wants to leave their mark on the legacy of hip hop. Sure we still had great albums from the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, and Outkast, but the quantity and quality is better overall right now. Also the diversity. I don't think someone like Drake or Chance The Rapper could've made the splash they're making now back then.
