The issue of the capital siege is an entirely different animal, their argument is to avoid consequences to placate people rather than hold the people responsible for that fiasco accountable, that's entirely wrong, it would be like forgoing the Nuremburg trials to keep the Germans happy after WWII. They committed crimes and must be punished.

What i'm saying is everyone has the right to dissention, its a principal our nation is founded on and regardless of how its implemented, simply saying "You can't say XYZ" is going to play right into their hands and further radicalize people, you can't censor private groups and in their web forums, facebook groups, meme pages, and other platforms they will continue to grow and radicalize.

There needs to be a cultural shift on how the average person processes and shares information, which is something that can't be done with kneejerk sweeping policies

I doubt AOC is calling for censoring speech as much as she's saying that the media that is supposed to be informing the public needs to have some standards and not blatantly push falsehoods especially when those falsehoods can be linked to incitement to violence.

A private group on Facebook dedicated to buying into every farfetched conspiracy theory isn't going to be included in a new Fairness Doctrine type of legislation. But Facebook would definitely be on the hook for it's algorithm pushing QAnon conspiracies onto feeds or willingly disseminating falsehoods to its users. The same with Youtube, Twitter etc.
Supposed news media shouldn't be able to push lies all day every day to their viewers without facing some sort of consequence.

And individuals would still be free to consume bullshyt but that bullshyt would not be recklessly fed to them by mainstream media outlets as if it were true.

The NY Post is being misleading here. She was asked two questions: one was about media literacy and the other was about a truth and reconciliation commission for restorative justice/healing as a nation.



If you listen to this you would understand she's simply talking about more education (media literacy). Look at the "news" outlets playing alarmist here. A more media literate society would hurt them.

Well I am just going by what an expanded Fairness Doctrine would be like based off the 40 years that it existed in this country.

I do agree that there needs to be a movement in schools to start teaching about media accountability and steer the next generation away from the goofy notion we currently have with so many people now that their feelings or opinions are the same as facts.
