Hell naw. Most people don't want to raise a family in apartment buildings or a rowhouse with someone right next to them with no space.
There are many communities in NYC that do not have row homes or buildings.
Philly and Baltimore actually have a higher percentage of row homes than NYC.
NYC has one of the the most diverse architectures in America.
There are parts of Staten Island for example that could be mistaken for the south.
