I don't need to know How He came into the world, I'm more concerned with why. Mary was a virgin who was of the line of David. God saw her fit to be the mother of Jesus. Her conception did not give her nor Jesus divinity. She is not be worshiped or prayed to. Jesus came to take away the sins of the world and though it goes more in depth that's good enough for me.

2. What History/Tradition Says

This discussion has been going on since the first recordings of human history, "Who are we and where did we come from". There are those who side with an evolutionist mindset. Natural Selection and Random Chance and the keys for their belief systems. For theistic and intelligent designer adherers someone or something set order to the universe and created life. Everyone would agree we have one greatest common male and female ancestor.

3. How Do I Apply It

I'm not a scientist but I love science. I love to know how and why things work. It's probably why I was such drawn to computer science. For those who don't the original words for man and women, there is a distinction between the difference for man singular and plural. I believe from studying the Scriptures that God created one man and one woman during the formation of the world. The curse of sin and redemption of man affects all those of the seed of Eve. I don't have all the answer but I believe what God set is truth and He will expound on it when He needs to.

You learned it was Mary who is of the lineage of Kind David? Not Joseph?

and You believe that adam and eve were the ONLY humans on earth?

just clarifying

When they dropping a new story arc ? :troll:

Yo man thanks for replying man

For your question

1. What The Bible Say

Hebrews 10: 8 - 14

8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law),
9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second.
10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet.
14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

Hebrews 2: 14 - 18

14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Revelations 22: 18 - 20

18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

2. What History/Tradition Says

The story of Jesus is one of the most analyzed stories in the history of the world. It has either positively and negatively impacted every person who has heard it. Many disagree with what happen and what will happen. Even withing the Christian church there isn't a agreeable point of view of what happens between the time periods and events listed in Revelation. There have been attempts from both inside and outside the church to add and/or subtract from the Scriptures, as early as the 2nd Century AD.

3. How Do I Apply It

To break down the verses in this post would take long pages and from the use of the smiley you're not interested in hearing it. Most people know is a prophetic book with signs and numbers that don't make sense the first time you read it.The progression of the Holy Spirit has lead to a clearer understanding of what John wrote when he was at on the island of Patmos. There are 7 churches listed in the 2nd and 3rd chapters of revelation describing how they operate and behave. Prophetically this represents time periods of the last days of earth. The last church, Laodicea, is currently the time period we are living. There's nothing to be added to the Bible because I believe it captures the fullness of earth's history from the beginning to the end. We are in the last stages of earth's history. The canon has been closed for over 1600 years, there won't be any more books added. That does not mean God will not inspire people to write and share the gospel, He has and He will.

do you have faith in humans who wrote the bible or faith in God?

Thanks for asking a question man, I'll try my best to answer it.

1. What The Bible Say

Act 5: 27 - 32

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them,
28 saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man's blood upon us.”
29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree.
31 God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.

2nd Timothy 3: 16 - 17
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

1 Corinthians 2: 10 - 14

10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
11 For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.
13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

2. What History/Tradition Says

The Early Church was known for spreading the Gospel far and wide. The Scriptures to anyone to have and to own. The followers spread a message that caught the Roman Empire off guard. The ministry that very localized became a political and religious giant. It became the leader power of most of Europe up until 1798, when the Pope was removed from his seat and the has never been the same. Within the Catholic church, traditions began to have the same status as Scripture. With the lack of education for common people, especially during the Middle Ages, most didn't know what exactly what the Bible said, only what someone said for themselves. It wasn't til learned men decided to share the Bible with the common man that lead to where we are, "Who is right and should we listen at all?.

3. How Do I Apply It

I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. I also believe that the Bible is too complex for me to absolutely state it's all literal or all metaphorical. Lastly I believe we can not place our faith in the authors themselves, for they were man just as I am. They had their faults like all of us. It's one of the reasons why the Bible was written because it is relatable to anyone and everyone. The men who wrote point time and time again not to look to humans, objects, or to the intangibles like wealth and power, but to God for the source of their strength. That's good enough for me.

Why does the bible justify slavery?

This question is a very good one thanks for asking.

1. What The Bible Says

Leviticus 25: 39 - 46

39 “If your brother becomes poor beside you and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve as a slave:
40 he shall be with you as a hired worker and as a sojourner. He shall serve with you until the year of the jubilee.
41 Then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him, and go back to his own clan and return to the possession of his fathers.
42 For they are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.
43 You shall not rule over him ruthlessly but shall fear your God.
44 As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. 45 You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property.
46 You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly.

Deuteronomy 23: 15 - 16

15 “You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you.
16 He shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place that he shall choose within one of your towns, wherever it suits him. You shall not wrong him.

Galatians 3: 27 - 29

27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

Leviticus 21: 1 - 2

1 Now these are the rules that you shall set before them.
2 When you buy a Hebrew slave, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free, for nothing.

Ephesians 6: 5 - 9
5 Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,
6 not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,
8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free.
9 Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

2. What History/Tradition Says

Many of you know that slave owners used the Bible to capture and keep people enslaved anywhere Europeans colonies were settled. They would Scriptures such as Ephesians 6: 5 - 8 to control those under them with a iron fist. There are many both inside and outside the church who could not understand why Moses and the apostle Paul supported slavery. This has left a bad taste in the mouth of people who don't share the same views as Christians.

3. How Do I Apply It

This one was a touchy subject that I had to really research. I claim that I don't have all the answers but I'll try my best to answer. Slavery is a theme repeated all over Scripture. Sin is compared to slavery and Jesus said He came to set the captives free. Like the Jews in the NT who expected a conquering Messiah, the image of what we have setting captives free is different from what Jesus had in mind. He was talking about spiritual slavery. God never supported slavery but He allowed it within circumstances. They were to be treated well and if you even killed one, you were put to death. God had high standards for His people. Based on the reading of the Exodus and the Journey in the Wilderness, God constantly reminded them that they were slaves and they should never wish to go back to there lives in Egypt. I believe God knew that there would be a power shift within people and those on the bottom would be taken advantage of. He set it stone guidelines for how to treat others with love and respect. I do believe that God has worked to send reformers to help free His children everywhere throughout the ages and will one day fully abolish all slavery in any shape or form.

What is the meaning of life?

A very interesting question, thanks for asking man.

1. What The Bible Says

Deuteronomy 10: 12 - 13

12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
13 and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?

Matthew 22: 36 - 39

36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
38 This is the great and first commandment.
39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Luke 6: 31 - And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

2. What History/Tradition Says

There are a group of questions every person asks themselves,"Who am I, Where did I come from, Where am I going, What is the meaning of life". Every culture, every field of academia, every society, and every religion has been trying to answer that since the beginning of time. Man has sought the answers of the most difficult questions, seeking to fill the void they have for purpose. There are so many answers and results that it's cause confusion for those who seek the truth. Today's society still seeks the truth but has come to the conclusion "What is right for you is right for you, what's right for me is right for me".

3. How Do I Apply It

I'm a selfish person, I can attest to that. I'm a stubborn who does not want to do anything for anyone. There are many times I feel I deserve some unconditional praise for the things I've done. Then I remember what price Jesus paid for me and how without I'll be lost. I love to serve God and people, it's something in me to help others in need and praise God for what He's done, doing, and will do. I believe Jesus set the best example on how to live. He never made His ministry about Himself always pointing to His Father and serving others. I've come to the conclusion I don't need make myself a god to advance in life. I know God loves me and wants the best for me. He blesses me unconditionally. I also know that there are people, even with their faults, who are reliable and have the best interest in heart for me. If I put God first, I no longer think how can I better myself but what can I do to make myself person for Jesus, raising the standards of living. It's the same with other, what can I do to help, not want they could do for me. When I focus on self, I can make far but far enough.

How do you explain the plausibility and logistics of Noah fitting two of each type of animal on an arc? :patrice:

It's estimated that there are over 8 million different species of animals on earth, surely that would be too many to keep on an arc? I don't even know how you'd keep things like insects on the ship and avoid accidentally killing them or letting some of them escape. Even if you narrow it down to just mammals, that's still over 5,000 species, some of which are quite huge. How exactly would Noah fit all of these animals/mammals on a boat that was 300 cubits long? Additionally, how would he manage to keep food on the ark for them (so they don't starve) and prevent them from messing up the ship?

Also, just one male and one female of a species should be too little genetic diversity for the animals to repopulate.

As a Christian I've been afraid to share my faith in a public forum(no pun intended). As a theology major in college I have seen that people desire answers and makes no sense for me keep what I know to myself.

I know there will be those many of you who may and/or will ridicule me for this and that's fine, it comes with the territory. I hope to be transparent and genuine with anyone and everyone who asks a question. I also promise to try my best to remove personal and denominational preferences and biases.

Having questions about the Bible and using common sense doesn't make you a bad Christian. If you looked at the bible and believed every word literally, you'd be the heir to the throne to the kingdom of morons. As long as you have faith, that's all that matters. I'd say don't worry so much about the words written by man, and focus on your relationship with God.

Why did Judas rat to the Romans while Jesus slept?

Thanks for the response man, I'll try my best to answer this.

1. What The Bible Says

Isaiah 53 : 7 - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

Matthew 26: 1 - 5

1 When Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
2 “You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”
3 Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
4 and plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.
5 But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar among the people.”

Matthew 26: 14 - 16

14 Then one of the twelve, whose name was Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests
15 and said, “What will you give me if I deliver him over to you?” And they paid him thirty pieces of silver.
16 And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him.

Matthew 26: 20 - 25

20 When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve.
21 And as they were eating, he said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
22 And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, “Is it I, Lord?”
23 He answered, “He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me.
24 The Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.”
25 Judas, who would betray him, answered, “Is it I, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You have said so.”

Matthew 26: 47 - 50

47 While he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.
48 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man; seize him.”
49 And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
50 Jesus said to him, “Friend, do what you came to do.” Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.

John 13: 21 - 30

21 After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
22 The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke.
23 One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table at Jesus' side,
24 so Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus of whom he was speaking.
25 So that disciple, leaning back against Jesus, said to him, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I will give this morsel of bread when I have dipped it.” So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”
28 Now no one at the table knew why he said this to him.
29 Some thought that, because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.
30 So, after receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night.

Matthew 27: 3 - 5

3 Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,
4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.”
5 And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.

2. What History/Tradition Says

Judas has a negative view attached to his story. He's the Bible's Benedict Arnold, a traitor for money. Judas is believed the most educated of the 12 disciples. Even with Matthew, a tax collector, within their group, Judas was in charge of the money. He was also the only one of the disciples with a last and borne of Judea.

3. How Do I Apply It

Judas wasn't the only sell-out that fateful night. Peter talked a big game but he chickened out, fell asleep, cut a man's ear off, and denied Jesus 3 times. He could have ended his life that night but went to hiding with the other disciples. The two stories shows us that we will make mistakes that would make us foolish in the sight of men. Judas, like the other disciples, believed Jesus came to overthrow Rome. They wanted to be generals and statesman in His empire. When Jesus told them He came to die, Judas betrayed his Friend for 30 pieces of silver, the amount for an offering lamb on Passover. It was foretold that Jesus would be betrayed. Unlike Judas I have the opportunity take the time to repent while night comes for the world one last time.

Why do different christian denominations have different numbers of chapters in their bibles?

Thanks for asking a question man, I'll give my best to answer it.

1. What The Bible Says

Revelation 22: 18 - 19

18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

2nd Timothy 3: 16 - 17

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

2. What History/Tradition Says

As before in this thread, the Bible as we know was finalize until the 4th Century. After that it was locked away from the common people. Protestant Reformers lead too the publishing of Bibles in the many tongues found in Europe. They removed the Apocrypha because they felt it was not sound to be included was never mention by OT or NT writers. Later churches such as the Jehovah's Witness and LDS added to the Bible what they deem as right. Also with the aid of archaeology, more older manuscripts are being found. These new manuscripts do not take away from the message of the Bible but more how to arrange it and how to better translate ancient Hebrew and Greek to modern languages. It's one of the reasons why there are so many new versions of the Bible in English.

3. How Do I Apply It

The Bible is the best selling book of all time, the most read book of all time, and the most stolen book of all time. It's been critique by just everyone under the sun. Denominations have differed on what should be in the Bible since during and after the Protest Reformation in Europe. The Catholics remain to have extra chapters in some books and and an entire dedicated to inter testament material. The Protestant Churches, even with there differences, have all agreed the 66 Books in the Bible is enough. Newer Denominations and even non-denominational Christians have poked around the Bible for their liking. I believe that God has closed His canon many years and with the help of technology has lead to the discovery of better manuscripts to give us an even picture of the story of the Bible.

if everything has a creator than who created god?

That's a good question man, I'll do my best to answer it.

1. What The Bible Says

Isaiah 44: 6 - 8

6 Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.
7 Who is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and set it before me, since I appointed an ancient people. Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen.
8 Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.”

Isaiah 41: 21 - 24

21 Set forth your case, says the Lord; bring your proofs, says the King of Jacob.
22 Let them bring them, and tell us what is to happen. Tell us the former things, what they are, that we may consider them, that we may know their outcome; or declare to us the things to come.
23 Tell us what is to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; do good, or do harm, that we may be dismayed and terrified.
24 Behold, you are nothing, and your work is less than nothing; an abomination is he who chooses you.

Revelation 22:13 - I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

2. What History/Tradition Says

This is a divided throughout history. Most people argue about if there's a god, if there is many who to follow, and is there a true god. Humans only have always observe creation, destruction, and reconstruction. Like the song says "Nothing from nothing means nothing, you gotta have something if you want to be with me" We have and can observe the process of a child being born but we would never said it came out of nowhere, it had parents, who had parents, and so on. If there is a god where did he/she/it come from.

3. How Do I Apply It

The Word of God states the One who created the world has no beginning nor end. That's something I can't comprehend. How can someone have no beginning nor ending? Our lives on earth are limited and we could that in just everything. The things we have today will fade away tomorrow. What makes God different then? He's God for starters, the One who creates and handles with detail every little thing. It's mind boggling to make sense but He's never strayed me wrong. The things He states and promises in the Bible have not been match by human and man made device. God stands above the rest as the Eternal Lord of all Creation. I would love to know the History of God but I know my feeble mind could not imagine nor contain how complex and supreme God has been, is, and will be.
