Can NY sign Melo to the Max and then trade him to the Rockets for James Harden?

:yeshrug:

Melo + Dwight >>>>>>>> Harden + Dwight

And getting Harden back if Melo leaves is better than anything that anybody else could possibly offer.
No because the Knicks can't S&T. Besides it unbalances Houston's lineup. They'd have no SG

I dont know. I understand that Melo deserves max money, but you can't really win in the NBA like that anymore. Superstars are concentrated on just a few teams, and the only way that works is by compromise. Melo taking a max says he's cool with losing. I'd be shocked if the Lakers can turn it around under than insane contract they gave Kobe.

Guess we'll see.

The knicks can S&T  thats why the knicks aren't shook because 9 times out of 10 that is how its going down. No team worth a damn can just absorb melo's salary, so they will likely have to trade for him with the knicks

and GoldenGlove made a point its good for the Rockets and if the knicks are in a rebuild taking on the Younger/cheaper Harden makes a lot of sense. Its a fair trade for Melo, arguably the fairest.

Link?

The Knicks is in bad situation and they James owner, blocks Phil from firing staffs. Why would hire Phil Jackson as a President and said Phil will do everything on his own but yet you just blocked him :what:

So now, they wanted Melo to take less?.......drop the link.

They'd have to be under the lux after the deal is over to do it. That's why they can't just S&T him for a big salary

Besides, Houston isn't so desperate for Melo that they'd deal Harden for him. .

No the receiving team has to be under the luxury tax, so maybe the rockets wouldn't be ideal but hey crazy trades happen all the time and this is a what if thread .

No he doesn't because he went on record saying that he would take a pay cut. Also he's the one that forced the trade to New York instead of signing with the team in free agency.

Exactly. If Melo would have been damn patient and play the rest of that season so they would've had a better team. I think Melo knows he screwed up by forcing the trade because the Knicks gave up so much to just get him.

"I would leave today [if I were Carmelo]," Roberston said on SiriusXM NBA radio Thursday. "... Let me tell you why: wherever that kid has gone, when he was at Denver, they had a team that fooled around with the ball, fooled around with the ball, then all of the sudden when they needed a basket, threw it to Carmelo. Then, when he shot the ball, they said he shot too much. Then when he didn't shoot they said he didn't shoot enough...

Robertson thinks Houston would be a perfect fit for Anthony, who was second in the NBA in scoring last season and pulled down a career-high 8.1 rebounds per game.

"If he goes to Houston, they're gonna win everything," Robertson told host and well-known Knicks fan Spike Lee....
