The reason Nas is better than Rakim (with all due respect) is simply put in one word : emotion

Nas way of rapping is so diverse he can chanel different emotions in his rhymes and that's why he prevail on unidimentionals rappers like ra, oc or az

rakim could have wrote ny state of mind or i gave you power but he couldn't wrote tracks like the world is yours or one mic

i refuse to conform
just when things seemed the same, and the whole scene is lame
I come and reign with the unexplained for the brains 'til things change
They strain to sling slang, I'm trained to bring game
History that I arranged been regained by King James
Go to practice, with tactics, when the track hits, theatrics
Women that look like actress the status of Cleopatra's
Stacks of mathematics took the ?ego-a-geatics?
As I find out, what the facts is, for geographic
No time to sip Mo's with hostess, never mind what the total gross is
I rip shows, stay focused, and split cheese, with soldiers
While you hit trees and coast I spit flows that be ferocious
And with these explosives, I split seas for Moses
Shine permanently only my mind's concernin me
Fire burns in me eternally time's eternity
Followers turn on me they'll be in a mental infirmary
Determinely advance technology better than Germany

R
akim rhyme schemes is wayyyy better then nas shyt it's not even close.

:russ: @ the old heads in this threads.

Nas came thru and crashed the buildings in '91

Ra came through in '87 and crushed the buildings

and in 2012 his album is top 10 on every Most Anticipated list.
If Rakim was dropping an album in 2012, you think no one would be anticapting like Detox:wtf:

nikkas cant even name Rakim last albums but have the nerve to put him over the true GAWD.
Seventh Seal.

I give but this aint even close. Thread should have been made around the time I Am...came out.

Same can be said for KRS or whoever you ol heads wanna give props to just cause they were the "pioneers"

:flabbynsick:

If you like Nas better thats cool, but Rakim makes his shyt sound so effortless. The technical ability is there. Can you find a wack Rakim verse? He has alway been consistent with it.

props to Rakim for coming thru and revolutionizing the art of mc'in,

Exactly an entire genre of music had to switch up it's style cause of him. He did it before Nas.

Pretty much. I feel like anybody sayin Rakim is better is either a old head or one of them nikkas that try to seem more into "real hip hop".

Nas should have added Rakim to this record :heh:

Would Rakim be amongst the most anticipated? Nah...Rakim barely could get his buzz up when he linked up with Dre before all them Detox jokes...Only cats "anticipating" him are old nikkas like Art Barr who saw him live in '88 or young nikkas who just got put up on duke and wanna seem like they in the know.

We respect him as a lyricist and pioneer, but he not fukkin with Nasir on no level.

How was the 7th Seal album breh breh? :usure:

I think people just listen to paid in full and didn't dig deeper. His lyrics, subject matter, and flow all evolved and got better with time.

Thing is, he evolved after everyone else had already done their thing. Paid in Full, Follow the Leader, those are the best albums he ever made and he wasn't rapping about anything. I dug Rakim's first two solos without Eric B, but they aren't on the level of illmatic or It was Written.

rakim and nas are nothing alike at all. even when nas was rapping about rapping it was more like a young tragedy than a rakim. their rhyme patterns are way differen't. their flows are way different. their content is way different. 2 completely different rappers who some how came to be compared.

this,...

plus rakim followed by ll has the most versatile hardcore rubick skillwise.

that can be packaged without tainting his artistry in the commercial realm.

his rhymes about females over the course of his career.

rank neck and with ll for the greatest of all time.

something nas will never be able to do and will always lack convinacability in doing.

also,..nas is not seeing ra in:

convincability
tonal aptitude
technical skill and prowess

plus, ra will always be a higher cultural figure than the sellout nas as well.

rakim over everybody culturally, except krs..........

how you owe me,...compared to any girl record on just seventh seal for starters...before we get to records like mahogany or know what's on ya mind.

nas is not ever seeing rakim in his life.

nas has never followed up illmatic with anything remotely close to rakim's early album run.

not to mention eighteenth letter the record, singularly.

still shyts on any recent nas record, from that time period to now, as well.

nice failing attempting to ever say some bullshyt about ra and:

nall it means nas took it to the next level

nas was never on ra's level.

he was ill when he first started and over time.

showed where he was lacking where the master always outshined what little nas could do.

nas can only spit well over boombap consistently and be at his topnlevel.

whereas ra can go on any soundscape sonically and still be masterful and not lose touch with his skillbase.

ra would not have made a wack run on sentence appearance every beat on distant relatives.

like that wack offkey bullshyt nas made on dr.

plus ra would not sound out of place on any rnb or girl record.

like nas consistently sounds when out of his pocketed element.

nas lacks convincability on different soundscapes...ra never has that problem, period.

ra is seamless,..nas has parameters he can not go beyound and is limited.

learn emcee'n before you speak on the gawd,..and sound as stoopid as your post i had to quote.
