No one said there wasn't any positive media. We are talking about it be drowned out by the negative stuff. At least I am.

What "negativity"...

All the biggest Black artists and art events don't make "negative" shyt lol...

Kevin Hart
Tyler Perry
Beyonce
J.Cole
Logic
Kendrick Lamar
Chance the Rapper
Drake
Blackish
Grownish
Luke Cage
Black Lightning

Some of y'all just dramatic, don't like Black art, don't like being Black, don't like severely underclass Black people or all of the above...

Lol....

See this is that respectability delusional politics bullshyt...

The "negative" art is about systemic failure of society that treats it's minority members that built the country that everyone else gets to enjoy....

But we got some weak pansy ass motherfukkers that can't deal with reality....

That nobody cares who you are or what you do, if you are Black, especially a Black male, esoespecia a descendant of a slave, the world is meant to eat you alive to feed it...

So when the underclass creatives.. who are the most potent and powerful... decide to make shyt that reflects their reality and it's the true reality of Black life...

The respectability motherfukkers get mad becsuse it destroys their little world where they transcend Blackness and get to be part of the system instead of the food...

Your degree don't matter, your job don't matter, you following the law don't matter, how you dress don't matter ...

You are still Black...and you not too far removed from the corner boys and pimps and the hoes and the homeless and the single parents and the working class

You just a different type of food, you just a delicacy

So you cool with raising your kids, thinking that it is OK to c00n and to sell out their dignity for quick money? Or you think that your kids embracing anti intellectualism should be the norm?

fukk what white people think! White supremacy is going to be over in just a few short decades from now. I dont want my flesh and blood to throw away their dignity for a few bucks. At some people the "stop hating, im getting money" process will bottom out and the people who choose the norm of negativity = reality will be ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY.

Black panther is a marvel movie. He was one of the most popular parts of civil war. The floor for that movie was 6 or 700 million even without black people claiming it. shyt I think Ant man made 600 million.

You kinda proved what I was saying in the post I just made. We only support things that have the backing and approval of the mainstream...

But that's not a distribution challenge, that's a consumer choices issue.

Ask any white or Asian co-worker what their favorite Frankie Beverly & Maze song is and they will give you the:what:.

Yet, Maze and Luther sold millions of albums and singles 40 years to a more cohesive and active black music consumer base that didn't need white mainstream system approvals, unlike what the younger crew seems to need today.

Whether any of this can be restored or improved is anybody's guess.

Well, consumer dictates what's on the market. You have to support artists you like sir. It's plenty of positive musicians, artsist, and media people but they don't get the support. The onus falls back on the consumer. And earlier you said you couldn't find any in the states which is it Mr. Tornado Drill?

The consumer dictates what's on the market? No, those who are able to sell whatever dictate what's on the market. All they have to do is hustle and get the sell. If some mass distributor picks them up, it just makes it easier.

Uh...I blame White Supremacy and capitalism...not Black people for anything...and I don't find artists talking about their life in the system to be anti-intellectual

Lmao so what consumers buy and support doesn't have an effect on the market according to Tornado Drill on thecoli.com

It’s a balance. Do you want your child delusional thinking that life is one long Fresh Prince Song?

Nearly every successful black man is driving to their own company/start up listening to what you call “c00n music”. Same with black women, majority of all successful women are listening to City Girls going to their six figure job.

So just blame white people controlling you free will......

Guess Public Enemy should never exist. Or De La Soul. Or Brand Nubian. They bucked at white supremacy and still have an audience today. They spoke about c00n blacks supporting white supremacy. @Zero is right. You dont support pro black groups or positive pro black Images like that. Or most of the Coli. Some things are deeper than money.

Spreading propaganda to prevent black people from striving to be better and to think better. Secret crabs in a barrel technique to shut down the minds that dont agree with the current status quo.

Yeah, I don't get that either Tariq Nasheed whether you like him or you don't was able to create a loyal audience and support group for his film. i don't get the ws defeatist mentality.

I think the onus falls mostly on the consumer. This argument reminds me of when fat people say stores and restaurants only sell junk food that's why they're big but in actuality, it's plenty of healthy options.

It is on the consumer, without question.

It is virtually impossible for the under-35 generation to comprehend just how much our values, creative and and consumption patterns have changed from what they were.

The older :flabbynsick:generation has done a horrible job at passing along the history and wisdom.

Not to romanticize the past, but maybe the more fractured sense of family and community today has made developing art with wide success within the community more difficult than ever UNLESS there is major corporate support.

A lot of the same posters hated, the Hidden Colors series. :mjpls:

These threads always exposes the agents and c00ns. Talk about Public Enemy, about Jason Black, or anything pro black, and they will be like :whoa: or :pacspit:

Frankie Beverly and maze haven't made a new album with original music since 1993. they were on Capitol records first and then Warner Bros.

Do u really think they would enjoy the level of fame they have without their songs being played on the radio non stop for over 40 years, all over soundtracks, being sampled a million times? If they were just doing lil hole in the wall

Black people consume more media than other groups so we're way more susceptible to mental programming. Its plenty of black people making the kind of music u say you want and they're making a living performing that music, not a lavish lifestyle but they're surviving. But black people wont fully get behind them until they get that white man cosign with a major label.
