From one atheist to another, this is why people think atheism is dogmatic. Please stop it. It was personal to her and real to her. That's all that matters. Ultimately, the one true religion (or philosophy) is that speaks to YOUR heart and brain. If it speaks to her, it speaks to her. Christianity didn't speak to my brain or heart; secular humanism spoke to my brain but not my heart, Buddhism speaks to both for me. Don't criticize people for their own personal convictions. It's okay to question them, but don't do so in such a bullheaded way, you may have a lot more success, friend.

I know innocent said her sister is also an atheist, so Ricki does the same go for you as well? Also are y'all open about your belief (technically lack thereof) with your family and friends? Or is it something that only your inner circle and sexual partners are aware of? If you are open about it, has it caused a rift between you and other females? I mean for guys, it doesn't matter. But I know females have a different type of bond.

Naw, everyone else in my family is Christian except a few cousins here and there. I'm open to my lack of belief, but I don't belittle - or try not to, anyways - others beliefs. That said, my family takes it hard because I'm not Christian which makes me the odd one out. It's not too bad though. I'm not exactly one to hide who I am. It has never caused a rift between and other ladies because surprisingly, belief is dying down with women our generation, and especially with non-blacks. The amount of agnostic/atheists I know compared to theists, friend-wise, is about 60:40.
Those who ARE Christian, you make it a point to not step on any toes and be respectful. Ultimately though, I do not wear my lack of belief on my sleeve. It doesn't really matter or make up who I am. I just don't believe in God, and that's it. I don't pray at family functions, but I'll bow my head to respect. If someone makes comments or remarks I try to leave them to it unless they ask my opinion or try to insult me. But if they do, I try to do so in a respectful manner.

I'm not really sure everything has a cause. I find this universe to be quite chaotic. Nothing suggests that it is orderly at all, but I'd like to hear your opinion on that.

I'm open to anyone that's asks...my only friend...my best friends knows, and so does my family....I have an aunt on my mothers side that is also an atheist so on her side there is no rift, but my father's side they are super Christian and I have had an argument with a cousin over my lack of belief...I have had girls from high school stop talking to me or unfriend me on Facebook for being an atheist
