so, at what time period did Mande's split from the rest of the pack and headed Mali/Mauritania because according to historians, the structures in Dhar Tichit has been there since atleast 2000BC by their ancestors
Thanks, and my pics are back up in thread, that I linked to which would make everything make a whole lot more sense. The split from what I see based on the evidence happened during the early Holocene period when the Sahara was green. This group from a linguistic stand point is distinct from all other Niger-Congo groups, and this could only have happened over a long period of separation. Other Niger-Congo groups have closer similarities linguistically, and culturally because of their cohabitation in the Fezzan region and later on Nile River during the Dynastic period.
The evidence of Dhar Tichitt is to me all the proof needed that the Sahara desert, was the source of civilization. There were waves of migrants in two directions East-West (the south was too saturated with the heavy monsoon rains), and in both of those directions civilization sprang up from the migrants.
