I mostly prefer it... I feel like creativity flowed more naturally back then

But new school hip hop, when done right, is unfukkwitable. AKA Bird On A Wire by Action Bronson, every song Clams did with Rocky on his mix tape, few songs off of GKMC.....

new school hip hop is almost never done right though

Yea thats what I was thinking. People who were born in the 80's (whether it was early or late) spent majority of their childhood, adolescent years in the 90's. For example, I was born in 78, but can tell you what was popping in the 80's (for the most part)

Exactly, I was born at the end of the 80s and we used to go around the neighborhood acting like we were the LOX.

And the nWo and DX :shaq:

im 20 and 93-98 is probably my favorite era of music. im no hip hop elitist saying oh man this era is so much better than what we have today. i enjoy some of todays music, and a lot of good music is starting to come back out after the whole ring tone, dance, rap era.

that said, the wu albums, illmatic, biggie, the whole new york sound of that era is :ahh:

I'm 25 and I still fukk with 90s hip hop pretty heavy. Just like this generation there's dope shyt and wack shyt. Some of the production has aged badly and can be dusty as hell, but I listen to a lot of West Coast music and their mastering game tends to be smoother.

The Chronic, Doggystyle, All Eyez, Life After Death, The Infamous and It Was Written are in my top 10 so :takedat:

why do y'all nyggas shyt on anything before 94?? lol

Jazz people dont say man, Dizzy and them was flabby

Rock enthusiasts dont be like "Kiss or Iron Maiden was flabby and dated"

leave it to you nikkas tho.. hip hop just started in the trap

y'all hilarious

They don't say that, but I bet most rock fans/metalheads who grew up on those bands don't listen to 50s rock n roll. There is music in all genres that sound dated fans of differnet genres will tell you that.

No, I'm 25.

I think there's a lot of good rap from that era but I'm not one of those people who just dismisses current music because it doesn't sound or have the same styles as it used to.

It's just like classic cars. Some people will swear off any newer cars because they don't have the style and are too homogenized. But, they'd be foolish to dismiss the advances that have happened since those eras.

do you really feel it's :trash::old::flabbynsick:

Just an honest question? :yeshrug:

you need to lower the age in the thread title a few years, playgirl.

at least for the dudes that hopped off the porch before puberty.

Depends. There is some trash. But there is trash in every generation.

Its like asking, is the old 70's and 80's RnB :trash::old::flabbynsick: ?

Music evolve and that will make stuff sound "old".

I personally don't listen to alot of 80's and early 90's rap but its not often I listen to any kind of music from that time period anyway.

I will listen to it when I'm in the mood for it.

lol @ music evolving.

music aint evolved not one bit in about a decade(and im being generous with that).

if anything from the '90s.....nah, F that.....if anything from the mid-80s on up sounds dated to you, its because you just dont want to hear anything thats before your time.

the beats, flows and lyrics, the majority of that chit has gone backwards. not forwards. especially the lyrics. alot of this chit isnt even on '70s hip-hop levels.
