Cal State University students are failing classes in a big rate, even with in-person classes

I understand Calc but how are people failing history, English and chemistry? Those are based on memorization and writing.

A lot of people don’t understand the basics of grammar and English, so it’s not surprising that they fail at writing. That’s what Grammarly is for and it’s free.

A lot of high school students are poorly prepared in writing. Especially in the social media era, they're not used to the concentrated time commitment that long essays take and the devotion to revise and revise them. You have to concentrate for a long time to write a 10-page essay and they're just not prepared for that.

And chemistry can take a shytload of study, again the kind of concentrated study that not everyone is well prepared for.

chemistry isn't memorization outside of nomenclature :stopitslime:

Depends on what the class covers, O-chem is a shytload of memorization and often o-chem classes get nursing-track students and such who aren't necessarily that good at the more technical shyt.

I rarely even interact with the dude like that :laff:

You would have been better off tagging @neotheflyingone as that nikka is always whining or crying to me about something I said. I did you the solid and tagged him in since you obviously can’t fight your own battles alone as a man should.

This is a bad sign.

Basically STEM degrees will be in short supply, if that report is any indication. People really don't have any drive/motivation these days (well it has always been like that, but it is a lot more apparent due to Social Medical)

Does the US have a shortage of scientist/doctors/etc?

Yes, massive. It's why the USA has to import hundreds of thousands of them from overseas and still has shortages.

Do you think it is due to laziness on our (America) students, a terrible education systems, and for profit colleges that their is a severe shortage in the STEM field?

My daughter is going to be in College in 2 years, she wants to do Nursing. There are young folks out there who are motivated, but it is few and far between.

I don't think for-profit colleges are the root cause, they are just vultures preying on the victims.

I don't blame students, I don't think Americans are "lazier" than any other group of people when they have the right motivation.

To me there are two main issues. One is the socially depressed status of half our population which makes planning and achieving long-term dreams like this difficult for them due to too many fukked-up realities in their lives. And the other is a shytty K-12 education system that needs to be reformed top to bottom.

One of those users is blocked by me, another one I’ve never even spoken to before, another one I rarely speak to and the last one is a whiny bytch nikka.

Like I said, you’re an adult. Fight your own battles if you’re actually going to try and call me out :mjlol:
