Can someone explain why black people should root for teams instead of players?

There's a lot of truth to this. I'm a die hard Bills fan and when I was younger and they were good, all I could see was red and blue. Now that they suck I can peep the rest of the league and enjoy the unbiased view and just appreciate some good football, regardless of who's playing.

Why do you care if your team wins the football game? You don't know anybody on the team, they have nothing to do with you, so why do you cheer for them?

There's some valid points in here but the one thing everyone is forgetting.. without the loyal fanbases in every city that show up to the games.. the league wouldn't be profitable and therefore, wouldn't exist.

The league would still exist, just certain franchises who don't care to improve will not be profitable and will cease to exist.

These leagues don't care about the fans, why do you think they move teams from city to city because it's based on a franchise model. Wherever the $$$$$$$ is what's important to the league. The whole notion of supporting your hometown team is just to get loyalty from the consumer. Teams don't even have to improve because they know their fans are going to stay loyal and committed..there's no incentive to get better.
