It’s more about more teams like TCU getting in the playoffs than the actual championship game. Fan bases want more Cinderella teams in the playoffs instead of the slots being filled with most SEC teams and OSU or Clemson

More games, more money.

But it will also prevent embarrassments like last night in the final game. You'll see games like that in earlier rounds.

Oregon made two national title games but lost both, one by just 3 points to Auburn.

And Notre Dame lost to Bama in the title game

Unless these other schools can get the athletes in the trenches the SEC teams roll out, they are always gonna get beat on. That's the main difference to me. The front 7 on defense and the OL for the top SEC teams are NFL level units. OSU and Clemson are the only other teams in the past 5 years that have come close to the talent Bama/Georgia have in the trenches. Some teams may have some good players in some positions, but it's not enough.

Also these playoffs won’t be lame neutral site games they’ll be played at college home stadiums so the atmosphere will be more fun too

Maybe the 1st round, but once they get to 8 teams those will be at traditional bowl sites. Those groups aren’t going to miss out on a payday.

The Sugar Bowl is not going to be played with the 5th best SEC school and the Rose Bowl won’t settle for the 4th best Big 10 school vs the 2nd best Pac 12 school.

TYRONE GA!
Lincoln Riley and him caring about defense. :skip:

Oregon has the money and resources but they're paid assassins and lack tradition their heart aint in it which is why they underachieve every they already have all the Nike money in the world.
Oregon with the right coach who can stop the underachieving and :snoop: losses can definitely cause problems

Why would they?

All the teams that barely missed out - Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson - all would have made it bringing ratings and making it tougher for a team like TCU to go on a winning streak.

First round byes would be reserved for the highest ranked conference champions, so being a conference champion gets emphasized again.

What's to hate on?

Its very short sighted to think the way things are now is how they will always be. It’s very childish and short sighted to see otherwise.

Having a bigger playoff pool will mean more schools get the means to compete and win.
College football has always been this way and always will be.

You can not over come the type of recruiting advantages that the top sec schools have unless you’re OSU

exactly. the 4 team playoff exacerbated the recruiting issues because the elite high school players just started limiting themselves to the same 4 or 5 schools. in florida those schools came in and pick it a part for the elite because the kids didn't see the big 3 as having legit shots anymore. that never use to be, the big 3 got whatever top florida players they wanted.

The only people who pay attention to college football are those who want to see young black men knocking each other's heads off with no compensation.

There is no parity in this league and you already know who the likely 1-2 winners will be

its changed and who is on top has changed. I remember when Alabama was mediocre and no one could compete with Florida schools.

yup

The changes won’t be seen right away but it will change long term.

Army, Navy, Nebraska all used to be powers, now they're not. Nothing stays the same.

If they don’t expand the playoff it will just be Bama Georgia and OSU every year with a random team sprinkled in. The more teams the better chances are for upsets and more parity.
Depends on where you expect the upsets and parity. With the early rounds yes but with the conference champions byes, they now have extra time and resources to dissect opponents. Last night was an example of that TCU poured everything into the Fiesta Bowl, there wasn’t enough left to overcome UGA’s depth and football staff resources.

1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Clemson
4. Utah

12 Tulane vs 5 TCU
11 Penn St vs 6 Ohio State

10 USC vs 7 Alabama
9 Kansas St vs 8 Tennessee

If they had a 12 team playoff this year, this is what it would have looked like.

TCU would have had to beat Tulane in the first round, a rested Utah in the quarterfinal, then (most likely) Georgia in a semifinal. :mjlol:

More teams reduces the chance of shyt teams playing in the title game. You can fluke one win…but you can’t fluke 3

If you don’t have a bunch of future nfl starters throughout your roster you have no shot.
