Yea that is just being greedy now.
Imagine getting locked outta your car because you’re a few days late on the payment![]()
Cars will have something like Denuvo in them. They'll probably have to "call home" every once in a while, and won't start if they detect software modification. It's gonna boil down to people buying cheapest option and jailbreaking the car like it was a 2010 iphone. If it's your device/car not much of a legal case.
One twitter post and/or reddit thread will alter the game.
It's gon backfire at some point as security updates for cars beyond a certain age is a waste of resources.

Jailbreaking it will likely void your warranty and if it governs anything like accelrators or braking, invalidate your insurance in the case of a collision.
It's crazy how we make more money than at any given time in history, but there's also a ton of shyt to charge us for because of the subscription model.
Recently I had to do a personal audit and lot of expenses were just normal things that I overlooked. For example the coding editor I use cost me $15/month (I prefer IntelliJ), some streaming channels I pay for through Roku and Amazon, Linkedin premium, etc. also look out for any monthly fees if you use things like Paypal, Apple/Android/Windows store, etc.
Historically we didn't have to pay for things like this, so it's very easy to lose track of and add up even though we get paid more at this point than we ever have.
Yup, in addition to the internet's upgraded data plan to account for the extra streaming instead of cable.A LOT OF IT IS A LACK OF SELF CONTROL. WE CUT THE CORD FOR CABLE AND SIGNED UP FOR 6 SERVICES THAT EQUAL WHAT WE PAID FOR CABLE.
THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS LOST THEIR WILL TO TALK WITH THEIR MONEY.
I mean we have a similar dynamic with onstar in chevys . Even if you buy a cvhevy from 2009 tommorow morining, you'd still need to subscribe to use onstar. And the infrastructure for it still exists nearly 15 years later for that 2009 chevy.Yeah....I'm just thinking they have to deactivate all that stuff after a period of time. It can't be in perpetuity. Does it all unlock after 8 years?
I can't imagine someone buying a used car in 2030 having to sign up for a subscription for extra features for a 2022 car, lol.
