If you knew you were leaving why fire her? Make someone else do it. Unless she was fired for cause?
Cause she deserved it and at that point I wasn’t pissing off the higher ups on behalf of her by refusing to do it.

By leaving I mean I was leaving the office and position to start working from home in a new position. So politically I wasn’t putting my ass on the line for somebody that was just openly slacking. I was on the road for work and while there the company VP reported that the girl was up front just hanging with receptionists all day not even pretending to work for days straight. She was already on thin ice so by that point I was tired of saving her.

:ohhh: Fascinating concept. Frighteningly efficient. Has this been implemented anywhere?
We are starting to outsource work for menial tasks but it’s going to start eating into actual work eventually.

yea in the long run mix in working from home with robots/automation/the world being smaller and people overseas becoming more talented it's not looking good for the average person. I know realtors making 6 or 7 figures a year using like 5 virtual assistants.
Real estate should be fine since hedge funds are now buying all properties with the sole intention of renting them it as well as built to rent models taking up space as I type this. It’s not even a talent gap thing like you say, it’s a business integrity thing for not hiring someone for Belarus or Romania, but once they wake up and realize they can easily get away with that shyt and save a fk ton of money it’s a wrap for us normal people that aren’t doctors or essential high paying personnel :francis:

I'm not sure exactly what these people do but you are right, just being on call for 8 hours like doctors is what most of us do in the corporate jobs especially now that we are at home.
There are days where I'm in a Teams call for 5 hours but most of my days are maybe 2-3 hours of meetings and spend the rest of it monitoring emails while checking the Coli (like I'm doing now):mjlol:
And so...

Lesson to them, Ain’t no friends in corporate America. All this “family” talk is bullshyt. Get as much money as you can from these companies and don’t be afraid to jump ship. I want to reach a level where they can fire me and I’ll gladly leave with one of those corporate golden parachutes so I can retire.

Yeah I gained respect for Netflix CEO Reed Hastings when he said he tells employees that they're not like a family, they're like a sports team. Some players work out, others don't depending on how the team (business) evolves each season (year). And he claims Netflix lets many new hires know upfront that they can be fired quickly if they don't work out, but they'll receive a decent severance regardless since getting rid of someone quickly is usually a hiring mistake. At least that's honest and transparent.

This is what happens when the idiot American public get brain washed into believing the propaganda that labor unions are bad and right-to-work states are good.
I’d take 45k union job over 85k corporate with no protection any day. Seen first hand the protection a union provides

Did they get all their allotted work done?

That's always been my issue with white collar work. How does one quantify "work". Because if you do 14 hours of research on a topic so you can do it correctly...then it all counts as work.

And especially if that work can be tracked. If I knock out my shyt in two hours...then yeah I'm chillin the rest of the day.
