-"This notion that everyone wants to be a great player, that's a lie"
- "Guys in their mind are like... i like making alot of money, I like working 7-8 months out of the year, I like staying at the Marriott or 4 Seasons hotels, etc "
- "They just wanna do their job and cause no waves"
- "Ben Simmons has to ask himself if he wants to be great"

He has a point :ehh:. Regardless of whatever sport it is, there's plenty of players you know are only there for a paycheck. I mean can you blame them. You playing for a ball for millions of dollars and can feed your family :yeshrug:

A lot of people realize that they get to a point to where they are comfortable and that is OK. I call it flying close to the sun. Not everybody is built for the pressure, lights or expectations and they know it. A strength is knowing your weaknesses.

Or how bout some of these dudes aren’t meant to be all time greats?

Ben Simmons is his own case since he’s scared of shooting but when I hear statements like this about all athletes it’s stupid as hell

there has to be a loser. Even if these dudes go beyond and persevere their discipline there’s just dudes like Lebron and KD that exist and you can’t do shyt about it

Shaq and Barkley are at a higher talent level than Simmons, but neither pushed themselves to be greater, outside of their MVP runs. Pippen called Barkley a fat ass because he knew what maximizing himself was like. And we saw Kobe shyt on Shaq.

That's nonsense. They both did. Chuck came in at like 310, and Moses & Doc got on him to lose weight, and he'd get better. And he did. He was just a headache for most teams. Shaq got tired of other great C's finessing him, and added more to his game. He didn't stop caring until after Kobe started taking over, and he didn't have to worry about other C's.

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way
"The NBA, it was actually easier [than high school], because what I found in the NBA is a lot of guys playing for financial stability. When they came to the NBA, they got that financial stability, so, therefore, the passion and the work ethic and the obsession, the obsessiveness was gone. It's like taking candy from a baby, no wonder Mike wins all these fu----g championships," - Kobe Bryant

One of the reasons why Giannis has been burning the league down even with his skill deficiencies.

As a fan, its why I appreciate Lebron, Kobe, Mike, Steph, Wade, KD, ect. Dudes who could have been :manny: and were talented enough to have lucrative careers based on natural gifts alone but squeezed every drop out of the lemon that they could. Contrary to popular belief, those types are rare. They're also what make the game special.

Above the fray.
Odd comment coming from Sir Charles.

He never played or practiced in the offseason, was a notorious late night partier(during the season) during his time in Philly...but was a supremely talented player.
His wirk ethic was questioned by teammates toward the mid end of his career.

Did Charles Barkley truly want to be a great player?

If I was in the league my only concern

Is getting the big pay check that’s it

being great on a Kobe, Barkley, Lebron, etc level would be great… but hell as long as I’m not a bum and be a good player putting up good stats ( IE BIG KAT)and getting big checks I’m good
