actually the Grizz were good before he got there. and he almost fukked it up when he tried to get them to play a fast pace offense early last year and the team lost alot of games early. then they went back to their grind it out low post game and were back as contenders. that cac had nothing to do with the grizz success.
point me to the part of my post where I said he was the main reason for the success :francis:

People tried to clown Hollinger before he got the job, and the old guard was divided on the Rudy Gay trade because it was so driven by analytics. And Hollinger was proven right. The most games they won before Hollinger was 46. Now they're going to hit 50+ 3 years in a row

what about it was dumb? what he said was true. analytics is just some shyt cacs who couldn't play made up so they could have a seat at the table. at the end of the day analytics don't win you championships. having the best players do just like it always been. miami ain't win cause of analytics. they won because they had 3 of the best players in the game. san antonio ain't win cause of analytics. they won cause they had the most talent 1-12 in the league. and so forth.

He's right, analytics don't give you the whole story.

The same is happening in football (soccer) as well. People keep telling me that celtic has a great defence based on stats but anyone who watches the games can see we are a shambles at the back.

Just a bunch of nerds who haven't played/watched the game and don't understand it.

Exactly. You can fine tune your team and play to it's maximum effectiveness. No one is saying "you should only use analytics" but you get dipshyts acting like you can only use one way to analyze the game rather than looking at things from more than one perspective

Always some idiots with the "what have the a's won" as if Boston hasn't won a grip of World Series employing the same concepts, with the pioneer of sabermetrics in the fukking front office
And I agree with you on the Sox but let's not pretend they haven't spent a ton of $$$ on players like the Yankees. A's do it cause those pockets aren't deep/willing to spend.

Analytics should be used in conjunction with washemplae but I'd almost always bet on a team that uses analytics to get the most out of their players of they went against an equally talented team.

And the Heat were very big on analytics. It's what made Lebron into a hyper dominant force and made Bron-Ball into repeat champions.

in this argument about basketball.
analytics don't speak the full story like you could use for baseball like money ball.
basketball is a complextion of the talent in the game sport.
you can't really use analytics wholeheartedly to win in basketball like baseball.
you can not assemble a bunch of middle of the road no talents in bball and use analytics to win in bball.
you could pull it in baseball, but not in bball.

Cs.. look at the sf giants the last 5 years winning 3 chips.... they didn't have the Dodgers lineup or Washington pitching staff and they came through..

shyt is not happening in basketball like baseball... Chuck was right

Anyone would sign bron, wade and Bosh or draft Tim Duncan. What separates the good GMs is the steals they get in the draft, free agency, trades etc
"Watch them play" is always gonna be the main way to achieve that but people that know how to correctly use and read analytics can help your team that much more than just Charles Barkley saying the rockets suck cause he saw them give up 118 point this one time
