Yeah Cacs made analytics up so they could have a seat at the table. Even though 3/4 of NBA GMs are already cacs. Makes sense breh

Actually it doesn't...When over 60 percent of the players have been black for over 35 years, its odd that those players never translated into executive roles....:sas1:

What exactly is Chuck's point here though? What did Daryl Morey do to piss him off?

Charles is right and wrong. He is right about talent. Talent is what ultimately wins championships. It comes down to who has the best players on the court and whose coach can put those players in the best situations to succeed.

OTOH, hes wrong about player analysis because it can be a very helpful tool. However, advanced player analysis can also be a bad thing.

An example of advanced metrics working is when the Grizz figured out that they had to get rid of Rudy Gay because the way he was getting his points was hindering their offensive potential.

An example of advanced metrics failing is when Chris Grant drafted Dion Waiters because his advanced college metrics made him look like the second coming of Dwyane Wade.

No they weren't. Grizz didn't win 50games before Hollinger. Became GM in 2011/2012 season. Everyone thought the Grizz were dumb for trading Rudy Gay because of the notion you need a star wing player and Hollinger dismissed it because Gay was so ineffective.
but what have they won with him? 2 losses to okc and swept by the spurs in the wcf = nothing

many of the great coaches already knew anything analytics could contribute. that's because they knew their team and player strengths and weaknesses. they know how to coach players to be in a position for them to be successful and the team to be successful. they knew which guys to put on the court depending on the situation. that's the main reason why i'm inclined to agree with chuck. lenny wilkins, chuck daly, pat riley, phil jackson, pop...all these guys would tell you to shove that tablet with your fancy charts and decimal places right up your azz.

people confuse the meaning of analytics....it's not just crunching data and allowing the numbers dictate who you play...it's staying ahead of the curve and developing new methods to keep you ahead of your competition. The Spurs and the Pats do a ton of wacky shyt we don't know about.
