Me and a couple of my friends had this discussion from a DC standpoint on where we would move to in the south for a second house.
Charlotte won out over ATL because the fukk we look like moving from one traffic nightmare that at least has an extensive metro system to help you avoid traffic to another city with bad traffic and a rail system that might as well not exist.

If you got a decent paying job in Charlotte you better keep it. Everybody I know who left is making 30 to 40% more money someplace else. The Economy there just isn't diversified enough for earnings growth.
