Crossfit is like the jehovah witness or mormon who bangs on your door saturday morning of the gym world. I also find it disrespectful to a good extent,how they deliberately mess around with legitimate exercises that are tried and tested. I got to a hardcore bodybuilding gym,and while anything goes in terms of exercises,grunting, chalk, sweat ,etc etc, if any member did exercises like that in my gym,they would be told once not to do it, and second time they would be thrown out by the owner I have seen it happen . . Because training like that,you are not just putting yourself in danger but others around you.
I have no idea why these people don't just do legitimate circuit training with their own bodyweight, it would be far safer for them, and you can build a very decent body doing so,there are tons of different exercises, you can still do it in a group setting, and instructors could still charge to run classes . It is tried and tested,;less likely to cause injury,more room for mistakes , leave the iron for the professionals, who will teach people the right technique and form.
