We really need to challenge this train of though. Can you really be "alright" if you support a douche bag? Is your bias toward James any different than a Marco Rubio or Susan Collins supporter? You are who you are. James had no reason to, none, to hitch her wagon to Cuomo. How can she be alright and support the IDC?

I think these are good questions and you may be right. What I can say is she does have a good record as public advocate. Cumo literally choose her. She of course should have declined but she felt like it was her only path to victory. Also, i don't think this is a comparable comparison to the one you made because she has been on the right side of issues. Also, re the idc support that is news to me as of today and obv is a red flag

Who and when will that be? November?
It will be next year. (I believe) 60 days after Tish resigns. During those 60 days the Speaker, Corey Johnson, will be the public advocate.

Potential Candidates: Melissa mark Viverito, Christine Quinn, Rubin Diaz, Ydnais Rodriguez , and I'm sure many more

Not a fan of Johnson. Unfortunate.

I'll have to look into that. The only one I know by name is Quinn.

Yeah but you can't sit interns at the head of the board.

Cuomo is not perfect by any means but he:

1) legalized gay marriage before the SC
2) Implemented a $15 minimum wage
3) Implemented mandatory parental leave
4) Started America's first statewide tuition free college program (which my sister has taken advantage of)

He completely fukked up the the subway situation and that shyt needs to change, but he's arguably been the most progressive governor on America in his tenure in terms of policy.

She's no more qualified than you or me to run a state with the GDP of Korea and that's not an exaggeration.
This is why I am pro cuomo

Hiss constituency doesn't care about that. It's a very orthodox jewish constituency . As long as he rides for them and yeshiva schools

Yep, you're not getting rid of him, the Hasidics love him, their schools might as well be private jewish schools (which no one but they can get into) and the city pays for them. Got to just make it that he has no power.

I legit think he was trying to become the face to save his partners in crime because he knew he could survive the heat and they could not.

Can someone explain what the IDC is?

So there are more democratic state assembly than republicans except a few of them always vote with the republicans because they then are guaranteed to get their pet projects funded. They are basically democrats in name only.

Cuomo lets it happen (Aka doesn't call it out) because they support his mostly moderate democratic ideals. He never had to worry about saying no to something progressive because they would kill it in the state senate.

Leading up to this election Cuomo threw the IDC under the bus because he saw the blue wave coming and realized he has to go more progressive to keep people like Nixon at bay.

I legit think we might see legal marijuana and early voting in some form with the IDC gone. Cuomo won't have the state assembly to blame to keep these reforms from happening.

Just remember, everything James did to win this election is exactly what some of y'all would "hate" Hillary over

Yep she spent the last few years getting favors and cashed them all in to get this.

She could have ran for mayor but went for this instead because it was going to be a lot easier.
