:shaq: I saw your 100+ outraged replies on Trumps 1995 taxes..Never-mind yall ignore the fact that Bill Clinton was in control of the Treasury ..so he could have changed the relevant codes if it bothered Hillary that there were such big loopholes for millionaires .

but i digress

that got me curious..I do my own taxes so i do know a little something about tax code so i started thinking
Maybe its just me who tries to pay the legal minimum
Do the rest of you actually believe if you had a LEGAL opportunity to pay nothing you really wouldn't take it?
:smh:
I'll tell you the same shyt i tell my 12 year old when he gets caught doing something he's not supposed to.
"I don't care what your little sister is doing we're talking about you right now" :p

I think the point is the tax code is broken and needs to be fixed. Until then i'm using all my Accounting powers to save my money

:patrice: If you two are quite done being obtuse .. lets all admit the president sets the policy tone at the very least and if the president is very influential they get most if not all of the changes they ask for.

Thats why certain changes are called the Reagan tax cuts or the Bush tax cuts and so on...they arent called congressional cuts
1. All a president can do is set a policy tone....duh
2. Influence is based on leverage.
3. Congressmen are allowed to put their names on bills they sponsor as a form of reverence and shorthand reference. The Bush tax cuts were sponsored by Gramm and Miller. The key term here is allowed. It's a ploy to show unity.

What this should prove is that simply raising the tax rate on the wealthy is not a fruitful policy as long as loopholes for the wealthy are cooked into the tax system. If you trust the same political class (aka HRC) that allowed Trump to pay whatever paltry tax rate he paid to now eliminate those loopholes as they promise to raise the tax rate...:francis:
I'm pretty sure that all initiatives looking to increase the tax rate include verbiage to close loopholes......

A weak president is limited to tone....But Bill clinton certainly was NOT that back then from what ive seen...He got them to raise taxes, lift the cap on medicare and SS tax and introduce a new gasoline tax...
IMO if he wanted to lower the time operating losses could be carried it would have been an easy sell compared to the other changes

I'm glad you brought this up. At this point I'll tag in @ThreeLetterAgency, our resident "Hillary knows how to govern" SME. Please inform @Aelyas en passant what concessions were made by the Clinton regime to pass these bills.

This is important reply because these concessions make progressives hate neoliberals, and represent conservative requests that conservatives want to distance themselves away from by saying Bill/Hillary had all the power.

It can't work both ways. One of you nikkas are wrong.

The methods are irrelevant to my argument..he got it done...whats one more concession to close such an egregious loophole it can wipe out a billionaires tax liability for 20 years

I see a lot of people defending the legality of the loophole but when are we going to ask how Donald finessed his personal tax return to include corporate losses? Are we supposed to believe this man leveraged - and lost - $900M+ of personal liquidity?

:francis: Thats canada,They take your money and spend it on YOU...what if they took that 40k and you still had to buy your own heathcare, pay back college loans and had to pay $5000 or so in property taxes every year to keep your modest 200k 3 bedroom family home

How do you think you would feel then?
I understand breh, so what your saying is youd be a social democrat if you lived in a country with a better and more responsive system?

He probably lost that in business...and Its actually within the rules to take his business losses to offset other income...its a bit complicated but here is a summary
If you incur a loss in your business or profession, you may deduct the loss from your other sources of income reported on Form 1040.

For example, if you're self-employed and report a net loss of $5,000 on Schedule C, and have a spouse who earned $25,000 in wages from a job, you can deduct the $5,000 loss from the $25,000 in wages on Form 1040 (assuming you file a joint return). The result would be an adusted gross income (AGI) of $20,000.

:wow: Wow youre a dap fishing moron...where did i backpedal exactly...It was my informed opinion that he could have done something based on the other shyt he did..

:ohhh: how wrong of me to think a president who can raise taxes, impose a new tax on gas....all really unpopular moves that affect everyone ...yet he couldnt close that loophole that affects only trump and a few millionaires
It still had to be approved by Congress dumbass

Nobody said the president has NO control over taxes. We are saying he doesn't have COMPLETE control over taxes. Just because the tax plan during his tenure had his name on it doesn't mean he got to do whatever the hell he wanted with it :comeon:

So yes you backpedaled all the way back up Bullshyt Creek.... you are hitting the
full
right now. And this has nothing to do with daps, I'd be saying the same shyt without them.
