one of my 2020 financial goals is to invest in more dividend stocks and buy more shares of stocks that pay a dividend.
i was looking at exxon and their dividend is really good and the share price is really low but i'm seeing a lot of different reports and opinions about buying/avoiding the stock
I got 4 etfs in a roth ira vanguard...im going agressive right now because its my retirement fund and im only 29... think 20-25 years max before i touch anything
I also just opened a M1 finance account for stocks...i researched and it seems to be better for buying individual stocks....this account i plan on touching within 5 years so i dont mind paying the taxes now but i want secure picks that pay dividends
My question is is this a good strategy and how many stocks should i start with? Ones thats consistent with dividends
Throwing numbers out lets say im investing 1k-3k a month starting off

This is the best time to get into dividend stocks, ETFs, etc. Investing now in these and your dividend percentage will be much higher for your investment. Do your research, because some companies have already announced dividend amount months in advance, so no matter what your share price is, you get that dividend. The lower the share price, the higher the dividend.
Example- a company gives .10/month dividend= $1.20/year. If each share is $6 when you buy, the dividend is 20%, but if you buy at $12/share, the dividend is 10%
