Seriously though, if you're a dj and you can't scratch or do any crabbin just quit.

Just cause you mothafukkas can drop a tag and learned how to let software tempo match and do transitions for you dont mean you're shyt.

I know so many "DJs" nowadays I just wanna slap ya'll. You don't DO shyt!!!! Half you mothafukkas literally just runnin a playlist with some sound effects on deck to be triggered.

I used to work for the biggest DJ company in the world and I'd get questions like "how can I walk away and mingle during my set?" :wtf:

or "why doesn't the beat match on the next song?" :damn: (remember when you had to actually do this yourself)

:mindblown: and then charge people money for their 'skills' @ a party

Before Serato and Mixmeister you mothafukkas wouldnta been shyt, and you're NOT MUSICIANS

:laff: @ any DJ that parades themselves as a "Musician" without producing their own music

Those deejays that use serato and have never used vinyl aren't real djs..

Sucker DJ... Just Press Play! (Fake DJ's) - YouTube
Not really, its called progression of technology.

I know dj's who transferred their wax to digital or asked for cd's over wax when I used to promote.

How many dj's carry 200 lbs of records now days?

Not many.

I know..Im a dj..or used to..yet I still rock wax AND Serato.

Wax is for showmanship...thats about it.

But you earned the right to use serato like premo said because you started off with vinyl..if your record collection isn't over say 500 then you're not a DJ..if I come to your house and I see 50 records in a crate and a laptop over your turntables and you tell me that your a DJ, then I'm going to laugh at you and tell you you're not..

I can dig that.

My argument was for the tykes of the future who wouldnt have access to wax and have to actually use timecoded wax instead of tradition records...

When I think about routines and shyt cats had to practice, compared to NOW...

nothin wrong with using Serato and timecoded vinyls, you can still exzibit scratching skills and crabbing skills.

its the dudes that download all the latest hits, think having 26,000 songs makes you a DJ :snoop:

Then they want the software to find the key of the song, the tempo of the song, the transititon, length of transition do the same on the next song, blend and match them with or without changing the pitch.

These tools are good if used by someone that has a skill, but anyone can make a 'blend' with this kind of software, and too many people think buying the software, music, and hardware makes you a DJ.

Im not sayin there is no place for the modern dj, someone has to rock the party, and sometimes puttin together the right set is a skill in of itself, but stop acting like you got skills and chargin people money to go up there and stand in front of premade playlist.

this may sound like Im an oldhead against the new shyt but trust me Im not. I helped support and build some of this software

somewhere between a pair of D cup tiddies
i still got my 1200's, my 600, and my pioneer's 1000 and 900.
i actually was just having this discussion w/my former boss, he said he sold out years ago.
i did my fair share of selling out too for the right price.
but i will never stop loving the feeling of manipulating spindles or cdj platters.
i do mix for the crowd, but they know i'm into my shyt.

it's still a natural high that's hard to match minus a vicious workout.

i too could catch a case of what i see these days, ol laptop ass nikkas.
ol can't beatmatch ass nikkas :wtf:
ol lookin pretty behind the booth w/no skills ass nikkas :comeon:

thanks for the thread, i'm furious now :busta:
