People need to remember, and this is not directed at anyone specifically, that we've been slaves LONGER than we've been citizens.

I think a lot of people forget the middle part of our history after slavery, like slavery was abolished and everyone lived happily ever after then question why blacks haven't progressed much. But I think for a group of people who were first slaves and then discriminated against to then point that the dominant society tried to hinder our progress, we're doing pretty well with what we got. Remember your grandparents, or parents depending on your age, didn't have the opportunity to vote or even get the same educationa that we do now.

yeah...50 years of "freedom" doesn't negate or fix over 450 of slavery and discrimination.

I can't say much about this cause my family is new to this country as West Indians and Africans..but yea...I've been saying.

I'll be honest...I just f*cking hate this country. I'm taking a 2 year long sabbatical out of here to Africa to get my head straight. F*ck this hating ass bullsh!t all these other people have for us.

It's like, everyone hates us and we are just hanging by a thread. People lke our music, our art, our contributions...but do everything to remove us from them as possible to make them more commercial and accepted. We aren't appreciated or respected. And as far as its concerned to me we have no real allies in this country...because we've been used to a system that tries to make more off of us than us for too long.

notice the behaviors, renting luxury vehicles to stunt and appear larger than life because they feel defeated, they've internalized their worthlessness and they want to stunt in overpriced rentals to show the world that they're worth something.

white people can be rich as fukk and don't feel the need to do any of those things because for one, they're white and constantly reminded every single day that they're worth something, that white is above all, so they don't need to overcompensate and stunt on people like Black people with no money or self-worth love to do.

Do you realize we would have to build our own transportation infrastructure (Airports,subways)in order to not be treated that way anymore!?! Yes, there are some black people who are just a lost cause, but I dont think thats the majority at all. I think there are more black people who are "aware", but are just overlooked for those who shuck n jive. The problem is, figuring out a solution because as you said, @Stuntone, not everyone is on the same page.

Yea there are issues in the community, but to ignorantly attack blacks for problems created and MAINTAINED by racial oppression is regressive...the only way to fix problems in the black community is to address the history of tragedy that has created systemic racism on our people; once we address it and teach it, we can develop solutions to gradually fix these problems...we as a massive people must do this on all levels of our community and get our hands dirty, get in the community and fight for our people.

THose that say differently are either black neo-conservatives (sambos) or miseducated about the current problems of today...Since the end of the black freedom movement, our people have regressed in every statistical category, including unemployment, high school graduation in relation to whites, net worth and income gap in relation to whites, incarceration, and we are being hypersegregated but this time its for political voting blocs...we are being disenfranchised again and people really don't see this....Its funny because next month, every classroom will be teaching how integration was so wonderful and Brown vs. Board of Education was so impactful...but these teachers will be saying it a classroom filled with 100 percent low income blacks or a classroom that is 100 percent white....pwople who don't acknowledge the tragedy that is black history with integration being a fail aren't looking at the raw data or they don't want to admit that the civil rights movement goals were not feasible for the black masses

Integration by and large was a failure.

Schools are more segregated now than they were 40 years ago.
