The World, but from BK
:hubie: I won't front at first I was not into the big-wedding idea...but then once we did it, I was really happy that we did. It was great to see everyone from my side and hers and it was just a great time. Our friends still bring up how much fun it was. We had 175 people and wedding came up to under 20K and we made about 9k back.

I know us men just think of the financial aspect of it, but the experience was worth it in my opinion. But yeah, we own property too.

I think he's referring about charging people to attend the wedding most of them are about 150$ nowadays so its possible to make part of the investment back + all the gifts

I don't care who u are. No way in hell u should be dropping $20,000 let alone $5000 on a wedding..

Marriage licenses run from $35 to $100 depending on what state..

Then go somewhere near water with a few people and get married.

That $20,000 could go for a house, condo or apartment or other debt the couple has

As stated, my wife was given an ultimatum. House or wedding. We used the gifts from our parents for a home down payment. Got married at the courthouse

Also has anyone thought about after 2 years u two end up getting a divorce who's responsible for the monthly bill of the wedding..

If u a man u mostly will get stuck with not only spousal support and child support if u have kids u have to be reminded each month by that wedding Bill why u got married

My uncle is taking Penitentiary Risks to pay off his wedding

Because the same year they got married in a elaborate ceremony they put 10k downpayment on a new home and had a new baby

While he worked a 12 dollar hour job while going for his CDL while she stayed home with school debt

Now last time I heard he was trafficking umdocumented Mexicans across the border

Petty Vandross.. fukk Yall
imo nothing wrong with it. You have one wedding plus you can always make that money back. Not every life decision has to be financially motivated, happiness matters too.

You can always buy a house you can't just redo a wedding 5 years into your marriage.

To your first point..
Have you seen the statistics on the survival rate of first marriages..
A lot of people outchea just getting married for the wrong reasons and are divorcing in as little as 6 months.
If people really were about the “happiness”life..
They would slow down and think about certain financial decisions and also seek counseling before marriage to truly understand if they are compatible and work out the problems in their relationship..
Facing the truth is the only way to find happiness..
And bae may not be really for you like you perceived..
Which leads to your second statement..
People renew their vows all the time..
In essence that is like a second marriage..
Some people didn’t do the big elaborate wedding the first go around because of all types of circumstances but they took care of priorities first and then decided to splurge.
Marriages really should be on that 5-7 year license renewal..
Les-bi-honest..
My generation and especially this generation ain’t built like older generations..
Many people are just marrying because of life plans, goals and feeling the weight of age..
Then factor in people not knowing gender specific roles in relationships, communication becoming a lost art and so many more things..
People really out here wanting to live that Disney propaganda and real life ain’t like that...
Many of our grandparents went through some real shyt in their marriages..
Real problems but in the end found a way to stay..
Now the situations could have been fukked up..
I.E. Rolling Stones, debt, fear, etc
But they found a way to keep it together..
Folks ain’t about that life..
As soon as an argument pops up, they out the door..
So what I look like dropping that kind of coin when it’s quite possible my spouse will just bounce..
I love my girl with all my heart but I ain’t stupid or blind..

We were renting. Got married in the living room with my best friend as man of honor and his wife.

Popped champagne and ate cake.

7mths later bought a 4 bedroom 3bath house in the suburbs with a big backyard. with a great school system!

That downpayment wouldn’t have been there if we had spent it on a wedding.

Find the right woman and you won’t have to worry about making dumb moves like that. She just wants to be with you regardless of the big party you throw for her.
