imo nothing wrong with it. You have one wedding plus you can always make that money back. Not every life decision has to be financially motivated, happiness matters too.
You can always buy a house you can't just redo a wedding 5 years into your marriage.
To your first point..
Have you seen the statistics on the survival rate of first marriages..
A lot of people outchea just getting married for the wrong reasons and are divorcing in as little as 6 months.
If people really were about the “happiness”life..
They would slow down and think about certain financial decisions and also seek counseling before marriage to truly understand if they are compatible and work out the problems in their relationship..
Facing the truth is the only way to find happiness..
And bae may not be really for you like you perceived..
Which leads to your second statement..
People renew their vows all the time..
In essence that is like a second marriage..
Some people didn’t do the big elaborate wedding the first go around because of all types of circumstances but they took care of priorities first and then decided to splurge.
Marriages really should be on that 5-7 year license renewal..
Les-bi-honest..
My generation and especially this generation ain’t built like older generations..
Many people are just marrying because of life plans, goals and feeling the weight of age..
Then factor in people not knowing gender specific roles in relationships, communication becoming a lost art and so many more things..
People really out here wanting to live that Disney propaganda and real life ain’t like that...
Many of our grandparents went through some real shyt in their marriages..
Real problems but in the end found a way to stay..
Now the situations could have been fukked up..
I.E. Rolling Stones, debt, fear, etc
But they found a way to keep it together..
Folks ain’t about that life..
As soon as an argument pops up, they out the door..
So what I look like dropping that kind of coin when it’s quite possible my spouse will just bounce..
I love my girl with all my heart but I ain’t stupid or blind..
