in very rare cases this may be an issue Not mentioning a suspect race as to not race bait,

But realistically the race of the suspect is usually not brought up because of a myriad of reasons.

-The most basic reason is a lot of criminals wear some sort of disguise or mask to obscure their identity.

-Or the footage is grainy and the incident happens very fast. The authorities cannot confidently and beyond a reasonable doubt identify the race of a suspect without opening the door for lawsuits.

-often case of race not being mentioned is the suspects are under age. This is what happened in Kansas City and why the race of the shooters was not brought up. This rule however varies by state. this is sadly becoming more and more here in Washington state for example, where many of the crimes are being perpetuated by minors.


It’s very telling that the it’s very telling that the implicit assumption by Ana is “ well why wouldn’t the authorities bring up the race of the criminal if they weren’t black?”
