You gotta admit that your boy fell off mad hard lyrically after Vol.1. He may have initially "dumbed down for his audience to double his dollars," but it seems like he mostly just lost it. He still shows occasional flashes, but those are fewer and far between these days.

That's part of the reason why I'm so hard on him. I was one of the few people calling Reasonable Doubt a classic in 1996, not 10 years. And I was in the minority. I used to get so many s when I was trying to tell people how great that album was in 11th grade and how he was better than Biggie.

His 2nd album wasn't as good, but he was still an elite lyricist. Then whether it be purposeful or not, his skills took a precipitous nosedive. You too young to relate to how the craft of emceeing was viewed by real heads back then though. It's a generational gap. Yall's generation are a lot more accepting of talented emcees dumbing it down lyrically because that's what you came up on.
