This is false.

Lauryn nor Andre 3000 live in a "safe space". They are artists who got into music because they love music not because they wanted people to look at them as the illest. They are artists who want to make music on their terms no different than D'Angelo, Sade, or Maxwell.
they do and they have people who inflate who they are and put them on a pedestal as solo artist without the work by themselves(or in hills case more of it).

artist have shown they have egos, pride etc. so i doubt its solely "they just wanna put music out" plus the people you brought up to compare them have actually released music. Whereas these two are practically inactive with exception of 3k's gues verses

There's nothing weird about somebody not wanting to do something anymore because they felt they've already done enough in that field.

What is TRULY weird is the posters in here upset at another man for not dropping music as though he owes them a solo album personally, or the fans who keep living in the past.

i believe it's the opposite. he comes across as very insecure, judging from more recent interviews. as if everyone else sees his greatness except him.

He dosen't want his music to be critiqued to the point where he has to defend his art...

Its easier for him to drop random verses and keep that forcefield around him...

"Hey Ya" turning into a pop song probably soured him.

Like I made all these great rap verses but all the masses want to know me for is Hey Ya.

Hey Ya is really a sad song. He should remake it into a slow sad song.

He is pretty naive if he thought it wasnt gonna go pop:heh:

If people are inflating who they are (which happens with everyone that has ever been considered great), how does that put them in a safe place? When people are put on a pedestal, that is a very dangerous place to be in. That is far from safe because people expect more and hold you to a standard.

Everyone has pride and egos. Yes, they did just want to put out music.

The artists I mention put out music, but D'angelo has three albums out of the 25 years he's been releasing music. There's 15 years between the second and third album. Sade has 6 albums between 1984-2010 and hasn't released an album in 10 years.

This.

People act like Andre was out here telling people "I'm the GOAT and I should make everybody's top 5 lists" and never dropped a solo album to prove it. He was never that type of rapper. He wasn't out here dropping verses flexing about how great he is. Does he have verses where he does that? Of course, but it's rare in a plethora of verses where he's basically rapping about regular everyday situations. Andre wasn't a solo artist to begin with. He came in the game as a duo with Big Boi, but because people see Andre 3000 as a Top MC, you got people who want a solo album simply to prove his status. They ain't even being honest about it either because if he dropped a solo album where he had two verses on every song, it wouldn't be enough. Why? People are going to be like "one album ain't enough for people to be hyping him up like that" no matter how good it was.

Andre 3000 never cared about being on somebody's list or being a GOAT. There's artists like Ludacris and Jadakiss who have spent their entire careers making music to prove that they are Top 5 material and look at their catalogs. It's littered with a bunch of try hard songs that cater to all these different audiences in an attempt to appease them. This has resulted in albums that were mixed bags filled with filler.

You got artists like Jay Z, who literally tells you "I should be #1 on everybody's list" and his worst albums are the ones where he's campaigning to be the GOAT rather than actually letting the music speak for itself. His best albums are the ones where he's content just showcasing Shawn Carter flaws and all.

, hes safe because he can ride off the hype he gets from hipsters, cacs, nikkas, etc who be putting him in top 10 list, etc
Add in hes never gonna put a album and he is in no danger.

they actually have something, andre has no solo work, Lauryn only has 1 and hasnt had anything since 98. those people and Dre/Lauryn are not the same

i also think its cause he knows hes in that safe space as lauryn is where off of hype and hipster hype that cacs have for him(and lauyrn and kanye) he can just ride off being placed as part of the solo goats(which he doesnt deserve)

all based off hype

my perspective on lauryn is different than yours and probably most on here. before she was a neo-soul singing mainstream media darling she was killing nikkas lyrically on bobbito and stretch and had mad nikkas shook. and that's why i name dropped her for being disappointing

for instance in late 1995, there was a hot rumor going around in the underground that L boogie was gonna be a feature on nas new album. our first remarks? oh shyt damn yo, i wonder who gonna have the best verse nas or lauryn. lol meaning of course, we expected her to rhyme. you dig? i ain't even looking at this through the lens of that grammy award winning album she still gets gassed off of. that wasn't what i wanted from her
