El Rey is a club in Hollywood, not a person brah. According to the book "Have Gun Will Travel," supposedly a crip got stomped out by Quik and quik's crew (bloods) over some fairly petty bullshyt. This dude died from his injuries. Quik wrote a song that talks about the incident. I forget the name of it but the hook goes "you're a gangsta," "no I'm not" with Quik claiming to be mature and above that type of shyt. This is kind of my critique of Quik. One minute he is preaching being positive and the next minute he's all banged the fukk out. He's an excellent musician tho.

I have the book and read it, and the way this Ronin Ro dude rags on Quik is hilarious. Ronin Ro tells one angle, Laybrinth tells another angle, and portrays the rollin' 60's dude as completely innocent. Ive heard from another source, the rollin 60's dude Kelly Jamerson stepped to Quik the first time before the party, and step to Quik a second time, and started set trippin'. We'll never know the real truth, but one thing that's clear with every story is Quik being involved with dude getting stomped to death. Who knows whether it may or may not have been justified or not.

If I have heard his name around LA, it was about more of his hilarious fukkery rather than street shyt. Yeah he has a rep in his hood, and the streets of Compton, but that's about it really. Some folks like to play him up as being the equivalent of Suge Knight, or J Prince

I made that post to calm the Brooklyn dude down that felt like he was getting disrespected on his DJ Quik knowledge.
