t-dot till they bury me
I actually spent $11000 on the engagement and wedding band :guilty:

It was a custom build. I picked out the diamond, setting and wedding band :ehh:

Got appraised by my house insurer for $16000 :obama::win:

Don't spend 10K on a freaking wedding ring, even if you can afford it. That shyt is the least important aspect of the wedding (to me).

My husband asked me what I wanted, we went to go look at a few styles, and I picked out something that was reasonably-priced (2K-3K). The money he would have spent on some crazy expensive ring we instead put towards a rental property.

I'm not a flashy person, though, so wearing a huge rock on my hand isn't my thing.

I see why he married you :ohlawd:

yo can someone explain the difference here? i dont even know it :dead:

in the same boat, stuff seems like a nightmare to deal with :mjcry:

@JLova

I spend 2-3k and said would get more expensive one when we hit 10 years shows stability in ours

When I gave her that ring she didn't even want a more expensive one loved it cuz it came from me period so it shouldn't really matter how much u spend cuz the love she has for u is what is gonna matter most

Just upgrade the ring later down the line most couples I know do this kinda like well if we are still together then yes upgrade to a more expensive one once we reach a X amount of years

Take ya lady ring shopping first. Don't just go to the name brand spots, check the custom jewelry spots.

Is she dead set on a diamond?

Engagement ring is the ring with a center stone that you give to your fiancée at the time of proposal

A wedding band can be worn with an engagement ring, but it is a complimentary ring to the engagement ring

Prices vary depending on the 4C's (color, cut, clarity, carat)

Never get an engagement ring from a main jewelry chain store...that's like getting car repairs done at the dealership rather than finding a mechanic

Yea if it's Jared or Zales I would agree. That's like going to McDonalds or Burger King and expecting a high quality lunch

But breh if you're spending 10k on a ring you already lost :francis:
If you're about to get married I'm assuming you must know your girl pretty well :usure:right?
So you need to get something meaningful and something that won't put you in debt :scust:
Don't get her blow pop ring but you don't have to get a diamond imported from Africa either :manny:
Hopefully everything works out OP :obama:

The one I got my wife was around 2500. Opened up the zales card and paid it monthly until the wedding and used the wedding money to pay off the remaining balance. Ring shouldn't be so important anyway I think 5k should be the cap and even that's too much.

Apparently one must spend 3 month's salary on an engagement ring. That is absolutely out of the question for me. The money can be invested or put towards a wedding. My girl is cool with that. My question is how do yall figure out much to spend? Personally will never understand spending 10s of thousands on a piece of jewerly but I been going back and forth between, the smart purchase and the "make her happy" purchase.

:mjcry::sadcam:

buy what you can afford...point blank...i spent a grip on a ring but i liked it alot, i wouldnt do it again because its supposed to be a one time thing

the better the cut, clarity, color, carat the more...i bought a vs1 1 carat princess cut stone (diamond alone) and look at it as investment, if you are looking for good stuff get it valuated, my house insurance covers it and if the cost of diamonds go up so does the value..you can sell for more than you bought it for...but thats for only if you are looking to get a good diamond, or you can go the cheaper route and go to zales or gordans and just get a regular ring

The engagement ring is the smaller ring. She's not Kim Kardashian and you're not Kanye so a huge rock for an engagement ring then another huge blingin set for the wedding band is out of the question IMO.

You should get a simple band for an engagement ring, spend about 2k on it, then "upgrade it" for the wedding. You would still want to get quality because you don't want cheap where the stones fall out but 10k is a little much.

Then explain to her that later down the line you'll upgrade as anniversaries happen but now instead of spending 10k on a ring when she's getting a bigger one for the wedding day plus the money spent on the wedding (if ya'll are coming out of pocket for it) will be a bit much at once.

backwards, the engagement ring is the more expensive..wedding rings are bands, you can get diamond bands but its the lessor of the two
