now that im older i can finally say that Ether is the GOAT diss track. I used to have No Vaseline as number one but the Ether shyt just continues to burn. Alot of diss tracks are still entertaining for what their worth, I still laugh when I hear Hit Em up, The Bridge Is Over still bumps, bytch In Yoo still has some nice jabs, Takeover has a good beat, 50 and Ja had some good shots at each other, but Ether still burns.

The fact that these jigga warriors still cant accept it makes it all the more funny.

Ether is overrated as a song but its impact was huge. Whether you believe Jay or Nas won that battle, the biggest victor was Nas career. He was all but done after Nastradamus. Going toe to toe with the biggest rap star out brought him back.

Ether is overrated as a song but its impact was huge. Whether you believe Jay or Nas won that battle, the biggest victor was Nas career. He was all but done after Nastradamus. Going toe to toe with the biggest rap star out brought him back.

Very true. But at the same time, paradoxically, I think Ether greatly helped Jay's career as well. Sure, he was on top at the time but the Nas battle cemented both their positions as a part of the hip hop history, as a duo like Big & Pac. If Nas had come weak, it wouldn't have been a real battle and Jay would be less a part of hip hop history somehow.
