Norfeast groovin…
I called it 6 months ago. They will use an obama oromo to quell protesters and he will use fake gestures.

His gestures not looking so fake though.
:patrice:

The gestures should be as real as possible. The less politically astute can be swayed by goodwill gestures. It’s worked like a charm too, all the same DC cabbies I would see complaining and crying revolution all got Abiy shirts on like some damn stans.

Ethiopians always need some godly savior to come from the sky tho, the government knows that better than anyone. If he’s really real, we will see soon enough.

Obama opened my eyes to how gullible people can be.

Genuine or not Abiy is a political genius. The military must be pissed, they got outmaneuvered by their own puppet.

Eritrean women are gorgeous. That’s the only input I have in this

Bro, the fanaticism is ridiculous. We’re a loving people and wear our feelings on our sleeve. Not always a good thing

Eritreans are the most battle hardened people in Africa. This will be a complete change of pace for many citizens with this new deal

Exactly, but the question will Be jow Eritrea comes out from the cold. Will Isayas be willing to give up an endless supply of military soldiers?

Why were they beefing? Ain't they the same ethnicity?

Same ethnicity but different nationalities/nation state

This move proves to me more than anything that Abiy is not window dressing but a personification of an internal coup in Ethiopia. The OPDO really does run the show in EPRDF and Ethiopia now. There is no way a TPLF stooge would sign off on this. Unlike for TPLF, the Eritrea conflict holds little personal or territorial value for Oromos, so the negative repercussions of a a reapprochement far exceed the positives.

The drivers of the internal coup and the rapid reforms were political instability and economic malaise, including much reduced foreign investment. Abiy seems to be slowly reversing this, particularly with Oromos but there remains heavy instability in the hinterlands. If he is to truly save his own party and the country from further upheaval, he will need to seriously address it. Nonetheless, he is definitely the boldest leader the region has seen in a very long time and it’s an exciting time with new possibilities that were unimaginable weeks ago.

My ex was Eritrean and her and her cousins would get so made at me when I questioned the beef with Ethiopia, I would say they were the same people and they would be like NO!!!!

They would say “our family has stories of relatives being tortured, raped, and mutilated in these wars”

I had to step back and realize how deep war cuts on these nations.

I hope they can have peace.
