Rarely do I delve into my personal life online but I'll never forget going out grocery shopping with my mother right as a shootout started. Both of us ducking down in the car driving off and all we wanted was some godamn food

I'll never forget the sound when a stray bullet went through my house and landed in my downstairs bathroom. The outside of the house still has the entry hole.

i like the vibe of the hood but i hate the houses. if you show me some decent houses in the hood, maybe ill think about it. i live in the suburbs and it has its good and bad points. just took my daughter to her swimming lesson. if i was in the hood, i couldnt do stuff like this. but i miss certain thigns about the hood. kids playing hide and seek and freeze tag. in the suburbs. everything is organized. you gotta pay to go to the park. you gotta pay for chuck e cheese. for me, i want my house to be suburban living(backyard, basketball court, garage, etc) but i want the vibe and density of the hood. its nice to have privacy but i like just sitting on the porch talking to your neighbors.

I would never want to live in the hood. I've lived downtown and in the not fukked up sprawl of the city and in the suburbs, and yeah the suburbs are a bit more boring. But just ignore that there are people down to do fukked up (violent) shyt to get money lurking around?? nah. It can be bad in high crime suburbs or high crime urban areas (read: impoverished, culture of being victimized by nixon and raegen era policies, families still destroyed by the (cia supported) crack epidemic and that lack of strong family structure being passed on. etc) as someone who just left being a kid and wants to have a kid why would i want them around that? where i live they have plenty of pools, the parks are free, kids running around doing whatever and they're safe.

Of course crime and shyt happens, I've witnessed it firsthand, been a victim myself and watched friends of mine become victims as well. I'm not pretending it's a wonderful utopia or some shyt. But this thread is only speaking about the positive aspects of the hood. Y'all acting like there's nothing positive at all.
