Not necessarily. the heatles took pay cuts to form. And as a player if I'm not gonna get my value why am I gonna play hard? There's no incentive. I'm also gonna link up with players who will make my job easier.

That's only because they were able to manipulate the system.

Sign Bron/Wade/Bosh for lesser contracts up front and load the contracts at the end (only have to pay "luxury tax").

Example.

The 2014 Miami Heat are paying out a total of 80.5 million this year......but the salary cap is listed at 58.7 million for the 2014.

They are almost 22 million over the cap. That would NOT be allowed in a hard cap situation (ie NFL) so the current 2014 Miami Heat as we know it would be illegal or not able to be financially done as unless the players on that team took even more significant pay cuts.

Here's the cap numbers for each team http://www.spotrac.com/cap-tracker/nba/

The salary cap is 58.7 million. LeBron James is making 19 mill this season. Bosh is making 19 million. Wade is making 18.7 million. That ALONE is 56.7 million dollars, which would leave only 2 million to fill out the rest of their roster:dead:

Seeing this it looks like the Heat doing what they did maybe directly to blame getting all that talent together like that. Guess they don't want that to ever happen again

Its always extremes and hyperbole when it comes to the NBA

....except that Jerry West, Charles Barkley, Bernard King and damn near everybody else is saying the same thing: that this year's product on the floor is substandard.

I mean, it’s ALL opinion, ultimately......but I’mma (1) believe my OWN eyes and what I see on the court on a nightly basis, and (2) side with the opinions of those who actually know more basketball than most of us have probably forgotten.

I don't think the product is as bad as people are saying it is. It is bad because a lot of teams are tanking this year but I think ESPN, ABC & TNT are simply showing the worst games (many featuring the Bulls, Lakers & Knicks) meanwhile teams that are actually young, playing well & on the come up such as the Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards are being ignored.

I actually think a lot of people don't actually like basketball and it's the NBA's fault. People have been marketed Bird vs Magic, Jordan vs Everyone else, Kobe vs Bron, etc for so long that people don't care to just enjoy the game of basketball. Look at Lebron's 61 point game.....Instead of enjoying it everyone immediately brought up Kobe's

These old f*cks always talk sh*t though breh.. So there weren't any bad teams in their era? :stopitslime: They're will always be good teams and bad teams no matter what period or what sport you follow. You can't have good teams if there's no bad teams. There's no rich without poor. No tall without short. Its the ying and the yang.. its impossible. My team sucked thoroughly throughout all these so called great-golden eras of basketball. I guess it was okay then cause the teams these guys played on got to eat. Did Barnard King play any defense? Charles Barkley was great but he didn't make his teammates any better like Jordan did?

-If they want to talk about this tanking bullsh*t then I agree. If they want to speak on one and dones and the NBA age limit then I'm open ears. But these general-all encompassing statements are bullsh*t to me.

People who root for the owners during CBA negotiations get the automatic :dahell:. Like, why? For what? :dahell:. Old rooting for the bourgeoisie when you're part of the proletariat and probably will be for life lookin' boys. :dahell:. You aren't going to "improve" the game through restructuring of the CBA. You just make the owners more wealthy. A team like the Bobcats suck for reasons well beyond a "hard cap," or whatever other restriction you want to put on franchises. They're inept. They draft dudes like Bismack Biyombo in the lottery. :stopitslime:

They need to do away with the age limit all together, not increase it. Only in sports dominated by blacks do people feel the need to, "protect them from themselves." Nobody says shyt when Christiano Ronaldo is already a pro at 16, when Martina Hingis is a pro at 14 and retired at 22 (even though she came back from the injuries), or Jennifer Capriati is coked out of her gourd before she can legally buy alcohol. :stopitslime:

The NBAPA needs to go after Donald Fehr da gawd. He'd be a big upgrade over fired and tepid ass Billy Hunter.
Dap +rep.

These owners are making money hand over fist and franchises are selling for record amounts. The next TV deal is gonna be massive too, but some of you want a hard cap and all this other bullshyt. :stopitslime:

If there's a hard cap, it should be at least $100 million. All these teams are caking. Bill Simmons brought up a great comparison in his latest column. Brian McCann is making more money for the Yankees than LeBron. Tell me how that's right. :stopitslime:

There shouldn't be a lockout; there should be a players strike.

These dudes are still sticking to the name brand teams on telecasts and most of the 'name brands' are down this year. They won't even show the young and upcoming teams in the league. I'm trying to figure out the real issue here. Are they saying that the play in the league is substandard or are they upset the Lakers, Knicks, Celtics, etc aren't competitive because they compose half of their national tv lineup? The NFL rolls with whoevers hot, they don't give a sh*t about storied histories or name brand franchises. Its all about who's presently winning ballgames to them

Just stop posting.
I watched him play and I know Lionel Hollins son. Since Lionel(his pops) played with Barkley in Phoenix, he told me dude didn't really even practice that much and was a huge party animal. He even took him out for his 21st birthday. He was just a great individual talent

hold up: are people really trying to blame lerbon/wade/bosh and the heat for this? lol....the heat werent the first 'super team' and they damn sure wont be the last...the only reason the powers that be in the league pissed at them for forming is cause the players did it themselves and it wasnt orchestrated by said powers...

the only reason for this lockout will be the same reason for all the other lockouts: money....both sides want more of it...and a hard cap doesnt make the league 'better' nor do they care about it making the league better, it just means more money in the pockets of owners...

you right, but the players stupid...they dont realize this isnt football, the league cant just put replacement players out there...if they got some organization, some leadership, some smarts, they could hold out and get more of their demands met....

So the owners will raise the age limit; implement a hard cap, and get more money. :ehh:
It's amazing how other unions are weak compared to MLBPA.

Brian McCann, a 30 yr old catcher hitting .250, signed a deal this offseason for more guaranteed money than LeBron's last contract.:patrice::wtf:

I thought it was a foregone conclusion after the last CBA that there was going to be another lockout.
