This is such a dope, useful thread. Do you think these opportunities will still be there in around 6-7 years?

Blessings
Appreciate it bro. The brehs in this forum have given so much to me in information, experiences, and wisdom, that it's only right to give back.

I do, but with some reservations. For example, as good as my pay and benefits are, the people who came before me had it even better. But here's the logic that dictates things (to an extent) and may provide some context: Ultimately the middle east countries want (complete) localization of their employees; i.e. they want their own young middle eastern men & women to have all the jobs and the manager/CEO positions. And yea, that makes sense, but a lot of their youngins are trash, or lazy, or simply don't have the skillset. Some of it may just be circumstance since, for example, some major companies only started having HR departments like 5 years ago. So that's just not a skillset that is readily available from a local pool.

So in order to run a competent business, they outsource the talent (hence us expats) benchmark 3rd party vendors with the hope that their young work force can improve/learn from us. So I don't think expat work is going away anytime soon but some companies do like to keep a ratio or even try to shrink the ratio to have more locals... until the company or departments goes to shyt and they realize they need more expats because their locals aren't cutting it. Similarly, they may try to pull back on some of the incentives... only to then realize they fukked up because expats end up leaving, then the company/department goes to shyt, and they realize they gotta course-correct with the perks/incentives.

So barring something major or catastrophic, the money itself will still be good 10 years from now, and so will the increasing tax credit (this year it is at $104,000 tax free) but some of the other perks may or may not be as nice, depending on the company you work for. By perks I mean leave days and travel allowances and all other perks/conveniences outside your pay.

@Primetime

Yo finally getting around to this

1. What country/city are you located?

Only reason I've kept it somewhat ambiguous is because i've been told my company can and will pry into your shyt lol. It hasn't happened to me and obviously I use vpn, and i stay away from JBO, but it's also why i just settle for 'middle east' so i can talk fairly freely.

2. you meet @6ixSigma out there yet
Haven't met the breh but i :salute: any coli breh out there making this money

3. What the eastern european hussies looking like?

High class hookers. Very beautiful, but i don't fukk with hookers/prostitutes/working girls. That said, a dating app like tinder in Dubai or Bahrain will have 1 out of every 4 or 5 be euro hussie or chun-li lookin asian girls offering massage service. Prostitution is wild rampant and the bytches is bad. That said, I went to Dubai this past weekend, stayed in shangri la hotel... the pool there had bad bytches that looked white'ish but didn't sound american. Dubai got a lot of that from what i've seen.

4. How are the arab women

Pretty friendly, but covered up. In private they'll talk to you and can be pretty animated/talkative, but are moreso to themselves in public. I wouldn't say whether i did or didn't knock down one of them lol, but I will say it is a very lowkey thing. I'll say that from what I've heard, they may get a driver to take them to your spot (you wouldn't come outside to greet them, until the driver leaves) and they'll be fully covered up, but once they are in the room and the door closes, they take that ish off and they down for whatever. Allegedly :hubie:

5. How is the native population and have you experienced them yet

They cool. They'll clearly know you're American, so the cab drivers and uber drivers will occasionally try to test you/ scam you, but quickly fall back if you show you're not an idiot when it comes to the currency differences. But in general, everyone is cool. But i'm not someone who goes looking for trouble or to offend. Basically i just do what everyone always advised me: don't say shyt about their religion or their women, and keep it respectful.

6. Best and worst middle eastern country you have been to (for partying or livability)

Let me revisit this in Jan 2020, as i got a few spots i plan on hitting up now that the weather is getting cooler.

7. How do you find these jobs?

Linkedin. Do the global/worldwide search filter and type in whatever field you're interested in. I want to say the Indeed job search site as well; anything dubai, quatar, abu dabi, saudi, oman, kuwait, riyad, and just see what pops up. I've been told that a lot of jobs pop up in November, but it honestly just depends on what you're looking for.

8. Ever been to or heard anything about Oman?
Never been but heard great things about it actually, that it has a lot of outdoor activities; mt climbing, cruises, beaches, dolphins, canyons, etc. So not quite the nightlife like Dubai and Bahrain. I was cautioned not to go now because it's too damn hot/humid to really appreciate Oman, but certainly a place to go in the fall and winter, especially if you're an active person who likes those type of activities.

hmm really thinking of doing this.

Is this your first overseas job?

What other places have you been besides the middle east? Africa, Europe, Asia?

How is the Product Management scene? I assume its none existence since it seems like everything is around Oil and maintaining?

Salam my nygga,

I came back to htown for the holidays, visiting fam and shyt.

First thing I did was pay off my 46k student loan debt:hubie:

X-mas present to myself.

I was a dumbass for having it get that high and paying the minimum for years, so that was going to be my first order of business after 5-6 months.

Now that I'm completely debt free, gotta scout out properties to buy.

As far as being back in the states, it is amazing how much idle time you have when you're not working (but everyone else is) and nothing really excites you about nightlife or the attractions that were part of your day to day routine before.

Weekends in Dubai with these foreign hoes changes your perspective on these American hoes

My bad, I missed this one. Do you mean supply chain management?

Because that is pretty big there too. Standardization engineers, procurement planners, MRPs, SCM analysts, contracting reps, etc. Tons of different equipment and products to buy, store, and maintain
