This was known and discussed a bit during the offseason in a lot of places. Its why combined with Durant knowingly signing for only 2 years with a opt out in year 1 shows this thing may not last forever

Dudes say they'll play together and look at pay cuts but look at the Heat, it doesnt happen.:wow:

I told these casuals. One of the worst signings ever. I have never seen a 73-9 team a few mins from winning a championship implode like this. They literally took themselves out of champioship contention.

The crazy thing I'm sure Steve Kerr had a lot to do with this. Let's not forget how he destroyed Phoenix when he was a GM for them
Kd one of the worst signings ever? Don't you think you're going a bit far? The warriors will be just fine. They are one of three teams that can win it this year, they aren't that bad off.

You have never seen a 73-9 team implode because you had never seen a 73-9 team..

You sign Durant first, bring in a bunch of vet minimums who want to play for a contender

Re-sign iggs and Livingston

Then sign curry last since you DO have his bird rights..

You have to release the cap holds

So the roster is Klay, green, curry, Durant, and vet min players. So you have 4 players and 11 vet min guys. 2nd round exit while DEEP into the lux tax that will be even more expressive under the new CBA

Cap ain't going down. Foxsports, CBS Sports Network, and NBC sports network will jump at the chance to get NBA programming to fill their programming. Good effort though

ESPN lost 600k subscribers last month breh
I wouldn't claim that programming fees will only go up in this environment, but ok

ESPN can't afford to lose the programming is the issue. Others are looking to add sports programming. That's why the NBA got so much bread in their deal. With Fox Sports and now CBS and NBC sports having their own channels, they are willing to gladly overbid to get that programming even if at a loss.

Really has nothing to do with his willingness to pay the luxury tax. Not having Durant's Bird rights puts a big wrench in things. Looks like the only way to give Durant the max next year would be to renounce Iggy and Livingston. They can get close by renouncing Iggy, but then would have to fill out the 7 remaining roster spots with min contracts.

please elaborate more on how if Lacob decides to pay Iggy and Livingston what they want that has nothing to do with the luxury tax.

You can't bid offers that you can't pay for breh :what:
It's likely that ESPN will have to offer LESS money to the sports league when negotiations come back up, your argument is that other smaller channels are going somehow make up the difference even though they make even less money than ESPN, won't have the subscribers, and likely the leagues won't have the ratings to justify the increased contracts anyway? :skip:

Ok

If he does, there will be NO cap space to sign KD. Each free agent has a cap hold ( I.e. A place holder), in order to sign KD, the warriors have to renounce the rights to iguodala and Livingston (meaning they can't be signed by the Warriors).

All of this means they have to hope that Damian jones, Pat Mccaw, and Kevon looney are key contributors because of losing two of the best bench guys in the league

the cba actually allowed this happen with the so called max contracts

lacob will have to pay, hes building a new arena and you dont fill that out without stars

Exactly there is no way that lacob has this new stadium in San Fran without stars. This ain't the NFL where you can put a bunch of bums off the street and basically pack a stadium cause folks gonna watch football in a stadium no matter what.

The only way this goes crazy and Durant leaves is because Durant wants to leave or if there is some sort of bad blood.

If it is between Iggy, Durant and Curry. Iggy will get thrown in the bushes.

Now don't get me wrong a lot of championship quality teams have been broken up because of age, injury or money.

But with that new stadium in San Fran I can't see lacob breaking the team up because of money.
