Meant to create this immediately after game 6... but... :francis:

Offseason blues: What's next for the Houston Rockets?

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) --
With the end of the NBA season and the Larry O'Brien trophy back in Oakland, the question remains for the Rockets: What is it going to take to bring a championship back to Houston?

NBA DRAFT

With the 43rd pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, the Rockets selected Germany forward Isaiah Hartenstein. In a scouting report from ESPN, Hartenstein's positives include his athleticism, aggressive scoring and he can score the ball in the paint, from the perimeter and off the bounce.

According to an ESPN Analytics projection, he has a 13.07 percent of becoming an NBA starter.

With the Rockets draft pick not expected to make any immediate impact, the team will look at several marquee players expected to hit the market. The Rockets are rumored to target Atlanta's Paul Millsap, Toronto's Kyle Lowry, and the Los Angeles Clippers duo of Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, according to reports.

Paul Millsap: Will Paul Millsap leave the Atlanta Hawks? As reported by ESPN's Marc Stein, the Rockets are expected to target the former all-star.

Kyle Lowry: Lowry would bring his ball handling skills to the Rockets, and able to take the pressure off James Harden. Last season, Lowry averaged nearly 22 points per game for the Toronto Raptors. With an addition of Lowry, the Rockets would also add another weapon on defense.

Chris Paul: In his 11th season in the NBA, Chris Paul is an elite point guard. Last season, Paul averaged nearly 18 points per game. With a Harden/Paul tandem, the Rockets would create an unstoppable backcourt.

Blake Griffin: He is also expected to opt out of his contact and become an unrestricted free agent. Griffin, a power forward for the Clippers, would give the Rockets a 1-2 punch with Harden and Griffin running the pick-and-roll game.

Biggest thing of interest right now

Rockets Have 'Serious Chance' Of Signing Chris Paul - RealGM Wiretap

The Houston Rockets are "aggressively" pursuing Chris Paul in free agency.

The Rockets are attempting to clear the necessary cap space to offer Paul a maximum contact of 35 percent of the salary cap. The Rockets are considering trading away Patrick Beverley and Ryan Anderson.

The Rockets have a "serious chance of luring Chris Paul away from the Los Angeles Clippers," said Chris Haynes.

Paul would have signed with the Rockets in 2013 had the Clippers not brought in Doc Rivers as head coach.

I personally dont agree/understand the CP3 pursuit. Basketball wise it doesnt make sense.
I get it in the sense that Harden as a point guard is too high risk/high reward. Gaudy assists but also gaudy turnovers and he gasses out with all the over dribbling 1on1 he does, which results in him becoming a mental midget at the worst times... basically that's too much responsibility for him to handle.

Whereas CP3 would be Nash reincarnated for D'Antoni.

My only problem with that is, CP3-led teams have been mental midget teams in their own right. And as long as D'Antoni is coach and he's preaching this 3s or layups and no set plays thing.. i just don't see things ending well regardless

Ehhh, two stars > 1 star, but don't necessarily disagree. If Bev is gone, his replacement has to be CP3 or Lowry at minimum. Both have that same heart and grit as Bev, and both are much better offensively.

Regardless, Ryno needs to :camby:

Yeah Ryno ass was wasting space. Morey probably already got a deal in place for him if a big FA commits to us.

Game 6 was one of the most embarrassing displays I've ever seen from a superstar, but y'all currently the best shot to take a series from GSW in the west, especially if you find an actual defender somewhere on this roster, so :yeshrug: hope it works out for you

I'd like to see CP3 too. I assume PG is most likely not in the cards for us.

I just hope it doesn't end up being Lowry and Millsap or some shyt. Neither really excites me as a basketball fan. Blake would be entertaining if healthy but wouldn't really make us contenders probably.

Ideally, would like CP3/Millsap. CP3 would obviously take the load off Harden, and even though Millsap is older than Anderson, he does everything better than Anderson besides 3s. I'd rather have an older Millsap on a short contract that'll consistently rebound, hit mid-range shots and play defense than Ryno playing like a 6'10" Kyle Korver.

After game 6 im all for getting Paul. Dude gives his all until the final tick and he has good leadership qualities. Plus it pushes back Harden load.

May even need to package 1 of Lou Will or Eric Gordon to acquire a serviceable big or stretch 4 if possible. If they clear Bev and Anderson to acquire CP3, that leaves us with 4 quality guards (CP3, Harden, Lou, Eric), 1 quality sf (Ariza), and a very limited/flawed front line.

Not sure what type of money we'd have left after CP3.
