Report: Hardaway Jr. signing could prompt Melo trade to Rockets
Andrew Joe Potter Jul 8, 2017 2:29 PM
The New York Knicks appear to have 71 million more reasons to move on from Carmelo Anthony sooner rather than later.

The Atlanta Hawks aren't expected to match New York's four-year, $71-million offer sheet for wing Tim Hardaway Jr., and the pending big-money acquisition has reportedly prompted "a renewed willingness" to explore a trade that would send Anthony to the Houston Rockets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Led by MVP runner-up James Harden, the Rockets are expected to make a significant push for the veteran scorer. Anthony has expressed interest in waiving his no-trade clause to facilitate a move to Houston.

Chris Paul, a member of the infamous "Banana Boat" foursome with Anthony, LeBron James, and Dwyane Wade, is also friendly with Melo from their national team days, and as ambassadors for Jordan Brand. Before Paul was traded from the Clippers to the Rockets, Los Angeles was considered a dark horse to acquire Anthony.

The Rockets have been vocal about their desire to add a third All-Star-caliber player to the mix, so it makes sense that Anthony would be high on their list. In any case, his time in the Big Apple seems to be coming to an end.

Morey has made some great moves, signings and trades since he's been here. But he really has to get this done. At this point it's not even about competing with GSW it's about competing with SA and OKC to see who competes vs GSW. Get. It. Done. Morey.

Patrick Patterson Agrees To Three-Year, $16.4M Deal With Thunder - RealGM Wiretap

Can you believe this nykka getting paid 16 mill now? I would have never imagined.

Based on the other contracts given out, he should actually fire his agent:mjlol: if Miles (or Mason?) Plumlee got 52 million, no reason he couldn't have got a 4/60 mill deal.

The difference is, MDA is an actual coach, unlike McHale.

Carmelo Anthony, Rival Teams Dismayed By Knicks Pulling Him From Trade Talks

The New York Knicks' decision to pull Carmelo Anthony off the trade block has led all sides to be frustrated. The Knicks were involved in four-team trade talks with Anthony expected to be dealt to the Houston Rockets.

Steve Mills is having second thoughts about a trade now that they're on the verge of hiring Scott Perry as general manager. Mills wants to give Perry a chance to settle into his new job before a decision is made on Anthony.

"That's crazy," a source told the News. "From what I understand Carmelo is under the belief that he's going to the Rockets. That's what the Knicks have been telling us; that they're trading him. I can't imagine that after all he went though last season with Phil (Jackson) he's happy with this."

Anthony agreed to waive his no-trade clause for the Rockets and has been preparing for that move for nearly two weeks.

Anthony is said to be dismayed over the events of the past 24 hours.

According to a source, Anthony went to the Knicks prior to the NBA Draft and requested a buyout. With that request denied, Phil Jackson said they would try to accommodate a trade.

The parameters of a deal are in place but there are some details that need to be finalized.

Not worried about okc or San Antonio. It's all about competing with Cleveland and GSW

The last sentence seems hopeful at least.
That Melo wants to be here and is apparently ticked off at the sudden change of pace is also a positive. Part of the trade talk being revived will ultimately come down to if he's not trying to entertain any of that "buy into the process" stuff that NY will try to sell him in the upcoming weeks

Spurs done stumbled this offseason; PG13 was just a pipe dream, then didn't get George Hill, lost Johnathon Simmons, lost that other big that was doin alright for them, still stuck with Aldridge and an aged injury prone Tony Parker.

But given they're history, they'll still prob win 55-60 games and Kawhi will again be an mvp candidate
