After first listen, I’ll say album is “cool”

Out of all of Gibbs chameleon colors I prefer more fast paced production and flows. Ima definitely give it multiple spins in the whip tho.

Crazy I been listening to him since Miseducation back in 2009

Favorites: Ensalada, Lemon Pepper Steppers, Skinny Suge II

All this talk made me go back and bump Fetti for the first time in like 3 years..

REALLY good project. But nothing to suggest they would’ve been the new Mobb Deep or Outkast if they pushed it more. Gibbs needs to get over it and move on.

lol these projects ARE him getting over it. I think it comes down to who he is and has been.

He’s been recording for a long time, and took the walk-on route. He’s always been open about wanting to be bigger and more famous. Plus, even though he’s always had a cult following, I think he yearns for a mainstream following on his own terms.

After The Tonight Show each release has reached higher and further. He may have felt like Curren$y and the Fetti project could have been a new bench mark and gotten him access to a whole new fan base.

Only those three know, but as long as it keeps fueling Fred to keep pushing out good music I can’t complain lol.

I feel like I should like this album way more but something about it's just too calm and relaxed for me.

I miss alchemist and his cinematic beats with hard drums that sounded like nothing else from the early 2000's.

This isn't for me but I'm glad they're making good music and people like it as we need more of this and not all the wack barely coherent shyt that populates the mainstream.

Bro they were never trying to be the next super duo. Gibbs sent one bar on some shyt talking flexing. I feel like he’s moved. He knows how to get people talking. It’s just a fun little bar. It’s not that serious to him I don’t think. And Spitta probably doesn’t care either. .

The drums in this are hard and there’s only a a couple beats that don’t have them. I had an alchemist scratch magazine from 2004 and back then he was saying that drums were his weakest aspect as a beatmaker. I hate to break it to folks but he was never a J Dilla type drum god. He’s always had pretty average drums, but his beats have always been about the samples, the chops and loops, the overall aesthetic and vibe, and the fact that he lets the rapper be the star of the show instead of his beat stealing the show. shyt, his first big placement ever with Mobb Deep The Realest has fairly quiet ass drums. Same with Worst Comes to Worst. Theres drums on here way louder than those.

Damn near every beat on here is cinematic :picard: again. More than a lot of his old grimy beats.

You make a lot of good points and I don't disagree with a lot of it but a lot of his new stuff is too down tempo for me.

I feel like he's become too much like madlib in recent years (who has always been hit or miss to me) and I definitely prefer him to sound more like primo or large pro and I know that that's my problem and unfair expectations.

Sorry for the stream of consciousness posting just sharing my opinion and I don't want to get to twisted because this album is good just not for me.

I’ll say one bad thing: please stop inviting Larry June to be on projects. That nikka is boring/wack.

Yea like I said earlier when it's time for real rappers to start rapping and lock in with Al, Uncle Larry need to take a hike in the mountains, water his plants, or ride his bike down to Sausalito. Real business is being handled.
Gibbs spitting his ass off and here come :flabbynsick: rapping at 0.25x speed about nothing :gucci:

Yea that post took me for a loop because the percussion goes hard on almost every track here. Hell, the second joint following 1995 (mar-a-largo) makes a statement right out the gate. Knew shyt was finna be different :russ:
