I have no idea why people think that.

When I think of Jay Z music, 99 Problems is not what comes to mind. A Run DMC beat + Dr. Dre's concept (bytches Aint shyt, also some LL Cool J Illegal Search), Ice T's hook and some UGK lines. Its a novelty song in my opinion...

All this is true, but the track is still flames. Easily one of the standouts of Black Album.

It's funny you're calling 99 Problems a novelty song when "Hard Knock Life" haters say the exact same thing about Hard Knock Life

How old are y'all?

lol I can't argue against the shyt if I wanted to, I was 3 in 1996 :lolbron:

Has nothing to do with age or ''You had to be there to witness it'' type situations.

It's a simple matter of music history if you study and ''Research'' it
it answers it's self....Biggest problem with situations like this is Jay-z stans
have a hard time accepting the fact of any part of Jay's career when he isn't viewed
as the top dog so they'll cook up ducktales or re-write his career.

I myself was young when RD dropped and I remember nobody wasn't bumpin
Jay-z's music hard body until 98 - 2001

Remember that hot 97 interview back in 2002 when Nas said Jay asked him for some comp tickets for the 95 Source Awards and Nas said ok, he'll leave it in will call, he never did

Shows u how completely irrelevant he was.
Smif N Wessun & the whole boot camp click had a bigger buzz than Jay :yeshrug:

Not a Jay stan(like his music), but why would Jay have any buzz in 95?:dwillhuh:

Hard Knock Life Jay-Z is the best version of Jay-Z ever. That's the version of Jay-Z that people actually gave a fukk about, and set up a beautiful run from 98 till Black Album.

Y'all can't rewrite history. I remember listening to tracks off Reasonable Doubt in 97 and not giving a fukk. They were good joints, but they weren't addictive. "Can I Get A" blew all that shyt out the water.

Which people? Coli lames?
Aren't you on record stating you didn't start listening to rap until the mid 2000's:patrice:

I agree. and he was spitting in parts of 99 Problems. That whole second verse about getting stopped by the cops and "wouldn't bust a grape during a fruit fight." nikkas was quoting that. In fact, didn't Freddie Gibbs say that line on Pinata? nikkas still quote it.

I know what you're saying - the spit was harder on Hard Knock Life, no question. But some can't wrap their ears around an Annie sample. Both tracks are undeniable fire to me :yeshrug:

surely you have receipts or you're just being an attention whore. Which one is it? :salute:
