No nikka. no. Ur wrong too. Reasonable Doubt came out on the back end doing what nikkas already was doing for a couple years already. Which is why it didn't STAND OUT. not commercially. Not culturally. U had dope albums. And u had albums that changed the game culturally. And u had albums that changed the game culturally and commercially. Then u had the albums that did NONE of that. Reasonable Doubt did NONE of that upon initial release. I can list Illmatic and Doggy style in the same sentence to make my point of both albums having an impact but a different type of impact. NEVER did I say it was the same.
Now you gonna tell me RD derived from Cuban Linx when they aren't that alike....IWW was more in that lane than RD was.
Yes to your point, Illmatic changed the game culturally....kinda. But we'll say yes. Commercially flop. Doggystyle did both, they aren't in the same league. YOU are making this point but you can't put 2+2 together to reach the same conclusion for some reason.

How do yall listen to rap with such terrible comprehension skills? I'm and I'm not saying it derived from Cuban Linx stylistically. But the drug dealer/rapper persona was being done already and Jay was on the back end of it. And shyt. Listen to Bring It On. Mafioso track right there. It wasn't looked at as anything new at the time. And it was his DEBUT album. Therefore it got lost in the sauce. Even tho Jay came from a more realistic perspective. Smh. And I NEVER said Illmatic and Doggystyle were on the same level. nikka did u even read my posts in this thread before u chimed in? I literally said Doggystyle was different cause it did both. Smh.
tho.
dog I'm not saying Illmatic and Doggystyle had the SAME kind of impact.
