Truth be told he dropped it in a tough time too, theres been some great albums recently. clipse album, JID album, the freddie n alc joint even tho it wasnt my cup of tea bar wise........people see the time that those albums took the thought the detail

I just think Ghost is one of the mosts beloved MCs on here ever, Back in the Day SOHH did their famous greatest of album of all time bracket, it took all year and actually Ironman got voted the best hip hop album of all time.....I know how much people love ghost so they just holding him accountable to the standard that is SC 2

Jesus, I forgot how dope that track is.

And Ghost's voice wasn't raspy at all on it.
OB4CL2 coulda cut 1-3 tracks off the end but honestly outside of that it was incredible in 2 senses....

1. It was a GREAT album with classic stand out tracks such as this and the ODB tribute track

2. somehow it actully sounded a lot like the original yet for 2009 also, its an amazing album imo 4.75/5 album if thats ok to say

I mean how many sequals of TRUE CLASSIC hip hop albums have truly been successful?

It just hit me. These two are sequels. And they worked.

Have you SEEN Kanye lately???

THATS what happened
brother kanye hasnt forgotten how to produce , you're letting your thoughts on who he is influence what you know he can bring to the table. hell the soulful joitns he was doing like a year ago on instgram the piano man track are better production for ghost than this entire album.

I get detesting Ye at this point or however you feel but you're kidding yourself if you dont think kanye and mike dean wouldnt have been a WAYYY better option. bigtime. hell even just as an executive producer to look over the project. ghost is ghost kanye wasnt gonna have him rapping about hitler lol.....Ye and sadly WSG woulda been wayyy better for this

Word. I bought it on CD when it came out. Even down to the Daniel Hastings cover art photography. It was so great!

I remember Cage even mentioned he was listening to it on Twitter or in an interview.

It's literally the blueprint on how to follow up a classic.

On top of all of this, it sold over 80,000 copies the first week.

I remember it sold alot, which made it the best of dope worlds.

1. A quality hip hop album and

2. One that sells alot

It's probably debatable, but I definitely think that's a classic. Probably the last Wayne album I cared about too. And one of his best.

And 2001, is definitely classic. There's been a select few in Hip Hop that actually worked.

Rappers don't get that if you name an album this, thats what people will expect! Movie sequels usually do a better job of actually being like the original, because they just rehash all the elements of the original. Which is not creative at all, and often sucks but they rarely go in some leftfield or random direction that doesn't make sense for the franchise.

Rappers don't seem to take anything into consideration. Like theres a few nods to the original - Mighty Healthy sample, Knuckles etc. Things that the fans wouldn't care if they appear on a sequel album, while not doing the things that actually defined the album, and just basically doing whatever. Like actually recreating the conditions of the first SC would be a sequel - RZA exec produces, theres a strict aesthetic and a handful of beatmakers, Ghostface is not rapping like the 4th member of The LOX and is doing his free association, vivid imagery style.

I was listening today and its a cool record but its right in the middle of his discography, nothing amazing but better than some of his later records. Ghost is one of the greatest so its hard for him to ever totally bomb.

I'm not that worried about the Mobb album. I think a lot of it was finished before P died. They had a Mobb x Alc album slated to drop 2017/2018 but P passed right beofre it came out. They had already started light marketing on it. There was also a fully completed P and Alc sequel album to Albert Einstein.

P had a ton of finished material. I think most of the additions have been from featured artists, and just paying to get the samples cleared. I did hear Alc say that he wanted Hav to have a lot of the production though, and I don't think P and Hav had as much completed music over Hav beats. So, I'm sure they did have to rebuild some songa with Hav beats.

But they've played a couple of songs live that sound fire, and they've played some things in the studio that also sounded fire.

But Mobb is also my favorite group ever so I'm biased.
I also think The Hegelian Dialectic 3 was done as well.
