I wasn't aware of just how tragic Swindal's demise was. And how much the Steinbrenner's resembled a season of Succession.
His DUI genuinely might be the worst thing to happen to this team since the strike of 1994 or Thurman Munson’s plane crash :mjcry:

1. If you're already assuming whoever else is coming from the system is a mistake then this team is doomed no matter what they do. They have to prioritize developing their own guys regardless and not by accident like they've seemingly done with everyone else.

2. Grisham was smoke and mirrors the whole time. Riding a hot streak? Excusable. Riding with him when he was ice cold because we were praying he'd just run into one? Not excusable. He had some timely homers. That masked the fact that we were hitting a .216 guy at leadoff with an OBP in the 2nd half that was .001 higher than Jasson's first half OBP. Pop was the only advantage he really had. That and believe it or not, Grisham could never figure out Yankee Stadium. He hit .195 with a .700 OPS, but hey he hit 13 HR's! Awesome! Yankees gotta cut out this mentality of HR's are awesome even if you offer nothing else. And when it came time to shake shyt up, they benched Jazz before they ever benched Grisham. At the very least, the concept of starting Jasson in a game and bring in Grisham later for defensive purposes (heh) should have been explored since they got off to an 8 game over the Jays doing that.

At the end of the day, Grisham was always more than likely a 1 year guy. Jasson, like Rice, like now Cam, Wells, and previously Volpe were guys we hoped would be here for a long long time. If they don't believe that he can be that in this case (and I think they've made that decision already) then he had no business being on the big club past July. But they're not gonna learn from this. They'll do this to Lombard and whoever else after this because from the GM to the captain to John from Ronkonkoma, they think developing players and winning don't mix and furthermore, think it's some other team's job.

Lastly, this team never had a chance of winning a World Series. They failed in getting back to the Fall Classic, but they woulda lost to whoever was coming outta the NL and that was true even when the Yankees played their best ball, because even at their best they still did all the dumb shyt that was gonna cost them in October. Once Soto left and Gil and Cole got hurt, this was a year to pivot and if we won anyway, cool but we needed to learn some things about the guys we've brought up. All we've learned is that without a shadow of a doubt, Volpe won't make it. Ben is a hitter that needs to stick to one position on the field. Wells can defend but he's learned every negative tip the Yankees can teach him as a hitter and that they have no idea what they wanna do with their outfield with regards at least to Jones.
No, Grisham didn't just have some "timely homers". He was the literally the best high-leverage hitter in baseball. WTF are we doing here?

How many World Series AB's did Andy Pages get last year? How many AB's did Cole Young get for the Mariners the last series?

The thing with you is, if there aren't three Juan Soto's on this team, well then they have to get the fukk on. Now you're concerned about the farm system, while pushing a trade Spencer Jones agenda all season

Like I said previously, if his name was "Jason Dominic" from somewhere USA, you'd still be defending the organization, and you the cape is definitely tucked back in

Dominguez against LHP had a minor league OPS of .533, 696, and .510

He was the worst rated CF(supposedly his natural position) in baseball when he came up last year

Miss me with the bullshyt. He's a platoon DH, with some of the worst outfield instincts I've ever seen. If he's on the team, fine, it is what it is. Other than that, ship him(and Jones) outta here and get some a real CF

They fired Harkey before Boone. Harkey was the Herb Williams of the Yankees staff. Guess when the bullpen sucks, blame the bullpen coach

Ain’t shyt gonna change as long as Hal is the owner.

this is good shyt.

I feel like Hal's apathy is a result of one or two things - is he on the "The last thing I want to be like is my father" tip...or the fact that he has a lot more people to answer to than his father did as the owner / decision-maker.
